Yes one can get high without being an addict

Pot heads are a constant voluntary state as opposed to opiate and alcohol addicts who physically must have it or be sick

I didn't notice anything other than not being stoned

And stoned is a transition

At least for me

Smoke and get the initial giddiness and up feeling

Flatten out into sorta static low intensity less heightened awareness

Then food and sleepiness or wears off

If you don't smoke again that's it though medical folks claim pot chems in bed in fatty tissue a long time I did not feel high

I'd say within 48 hours it was like over nothing like not smoking for a year

But then if one wanted they could smoke all the time

Pot if you're accustomed is pretty easy to manage smoking a lot if if young and energetic and not overwhelmed with responsibilities

It's less debilitating than any drug I knew besides nicotine and caffeine

But if you're busy like I became you find less time for it

My wife drinks

Like most drinkers she hates pot even though she smoked when young

If she smoked id smoke late at night with her on weekends

Alcohol is much much stronger bait on the hook

And it gut hooks

Any daily weed smoker can quit without treatment or anything

A drunk or pillhead it's a whole nother ballgame

But I realize in blue states pot smokers suck

Can't change that

Not so in red states

Another observation: drunks tend to panic on good weed

Get up to date, not 13 percent

That's the latest research. Prove me wrong. I've posted research, you've posted bluster.

It leaches back into the bloodstream so slowly it has no detectable effects. It's a non-issue.

Top, putting stuff in your lungs is indeed mostly bad.

And as most know, pot has a lot of tar and other particulates.

there are other ways to ingest it, though.

many older folks prefer eating it in gummies.

We know now that there is no such thing as a gateway drug, but merely troubled people doing what troubled people do.

Samantha, I’d like you to consider that as in all things there is a difference between use and abuse.

Not everyone who takes pot is a partying hippie loser.

Daddy, I’ve said before and will say again that I love your posts. I can tell it’s you right off the bat.

The fluidity, the train-of-thought cadence, the lack of punctuation, and of course the always fascinating content.

It leads me to ask: Is there single malt involved? Don’t be offended. And for reals: continue!

“What my first post was getting at is that all drugs cause physical dependence one way or the other.”

Shame you didn’t just post this to start this but then you couldn’t have been such a snarky ass, right?

But with that statement I will agree. For 23 years I was prescribed a myriad of anti-depressants. The anti-depressants all worked for a period of time before they would crap out after a year or 2 & then I would be put on another one. It would follow the same pattern but the time the medicine would work would decrease. Then I was on combinations of anti-depressants with prozac always being one of the medicines. Over those 25 years I would have periods of time where I was doing ok only to be followed with worsening depression. After doctors ran out of anti-depressants to try they started me on atypical antipsychotics. The cycle work/not work accelerated on those. By the end of 2014 I was close to going into a facility & not coming home for a very long time.

In the middle of all that I had some doctors do some seriously terrible things to me. One took me off prozac cold turkey & assured me I would be fine. I got to experience the “joy” of anti-depressant withdrawal. It was like someone was taking a warm wash cloth & rubbing my brain...fun fun stuff. Curling up on a couch holding your head begging for this terrible sensation to stop...”fun” times indeed.

January 2015 a friend asked me if I had considered using cannabis as medicine. Prior to that I did not use cannabis at all save for a few times in my late teens. It just wasn’t for me. I did some research & found a lot of anecdotal evidence that some folks were being helped, their symptoms would go away if they used cannabis to treat it.

At age 54 I was desperate for something that would keep me out of the crazy farm. My wife was hardcore anti-cannabis but she agreed it was worth a shot because she was every bit as miserable as I was because living with someone who has mental illness is a hard thing. My wife was hardcore anti-cannabis but she agreed it was worth a shot because she was every bit as miserable as I was because living with someone who has mental illness is a hard thing.

In February 2015 I started using cannabis via homemade oatmeal cookies in very small amounts. Thanks be to God in Heaven, I got better. The damningly destructive depression is thankfully gone while I use cannabis. I am also free of the easy side effects of anti-depressants & the atypical antipsychotics which were numerous & unpleasant. I lost 70 pounds. I sleep 6+ hours a night 5 nights out of 7 vs the 2-3 prior to using cannabis. My energy level increased significantly. I love to laugh again. My wife is no longer living on eggshells because her husband no doesn’t freak out over absolutely nothing anymore.

Will cannabis follow the same cycle as the anti-depressants did? Who knows? It’s possible. I doubt it will though because what I am experiencing now is nothing at all like when I was taking the anti-depressants. My wife & I haven’t noticed any negative side effects up to this point.

Hope you have a nice weekend. Peace :)

I concur!

Just the time it would take to roll that many & smoke them + the cost of that much cannabis...yet that was the range for a “heavy user” in the study.

Don’t drink at all

I tend to post on the go on iPhone 6+

Between traffic or late at night in bed while Wifey sleeps obliviously

I’m only addicted to one thing......her

I love the taste of alcohol but it just puts me to sleep at 59

At 19 I liked it

I had two shots of Cointreau the other nite at Paddy Murphys late night on fifth ave in old Naples FL

I like Cointreau for the taste

I write like I do cause I’m prolly a lazy writer and it feels like conversing here more than formal right which do have to do for proposals

And I detested college blue books exams

One question and write your butt off

“The progression from Hobbes to Hayek”

What fun
