GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence on Thursday predicted that Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion, would be overturned if Donald Trump is elected president.
“I’m pro-life and I don’t apologize for it,” he said during a town hall meeting here. “We’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”

Trump said something like “we’ll look at overturning Roe v. Wade”, he said something like that. It is an issue that can’t be avoided. Myself? I’m content with fighting and winning often minor battles. But I’m not critical of someone saying they want to overturn Roe v. Wade.
And THAT's the problem! There is no way for Trump to respond without him sounding like a liberal. It would be best for him to ignore and not respond to the issue at all.

Boy, what if they doubled down the next few days and came out with a big defense of wanting to overturn Roe v. Wade? Sometimes the opposite of what one thinks has been successful for the Trump campaign. You control the media, you control the narrative. Everyone should just chill. Trump’s candidacy isn’t going to implode because of this ill-advised comment. Trump will find a way to neutralize the problem probably by reframing the context. Both Trump and Pence will have to rethink how to handle these questions on RvW especially during the debate where they are both going to get hammered big time on this issue. They need to come up with a plan. And they will.
I am thinking this was staged. After turning to the audience for questions, Pence just happened to call on the guy who asked about abortion. The person’s name was ‘Dave’ and he described himself as a ‘Catholic Christian’. What do you think - is my tinfoil too tight?

That's pretty shallow and shortsighted of you. We all understand and agree that abortion is wrong and Roe V. Wade was a horrible ruling for a great many reasons. We would all like to see Roe V Wade reversed in a Supreme Court Ruling. But this is about politics and campaigning. It might be more than you can grasp.
See, there are a great many issues that have carried Trump to where he is. There are a great many more he and Pence can dig into and even a truck load of issues that they can hang around Hillary's neck like a millstone. No Republican has ever had such a target rich environment for disparaging an opponent. So picking at THIS issue makes it a campaign issue for the Democrats, not the Republicans.
Pence did not need to make headlines and pull the media away from the focus on Hillary and the divisive dems. Let them hang themselves and pile on as you can. Don't come from left field with a new controversy issue. It gives the liberal media an excuse (like they need one) to take their eye off the real issues.
