Bingo. I left Houston in ‘88 for that very reason.
My property taxes kept going up and I never saw that money again. The roads around my house were deteriorating, crime was going up and when I called HPD, I got a recorded message. I came to realize that my tax money was being used for the care and feeding of democrat voters.
How did they miss Burlington VT, both Portlands (ME and OR), Pittsburgh, Providence RI, Boston, and Seattle?
All run by Democrats (or socialists) for decades. And, just across the river, Windsor, ON, same latitude, longitude, days of sunshine, average temps as Detroit, run by socialists and labor unions - CAR MANUFACTURING labor unions at that, with work rules the UAW could only dream of - you know, Windsor, the beautiful City of Roses? THAT Windsor?

You can pretty much date when the destruction of formerly great cities across the country by looking at the date the last Republican mayor left office. In the Old South, you go back to the date the last segregationist mayor left office.

A preacher in Atlanta who has a very large church (Long) had an investment guy speak before his congregation (a black church). Many invested in his scheme and lost everything. The news did a story on this.. and interviewed some of the victims. They were older black folk, who lost all their savings. The question was asked, “are they still in that church?” and the answer was yes they are still going to that church. No repatriations were made. Not so long ago, Long asked for an expensive airplane he was wanting... and the congregation donated enough for him to buy it. They are ardent church attendees and they vote democratic.

That’s why Obama is sending section 8 housing to suburbs because cities are to dangerous. The irony is lost.
Large cities attract liberals.
Bars are private companies. The decision to operate on Sunday should be theirs’s and theirs alone. Government should never dictate that.
And then there is Kansas. A big disaster financially. Even white leaders screw up.
Atlanta City Govt is totally run by blacks. They are so corrupt its almost laughable. The white flight from Atlanta to the burbs and beyond is lengthy and ongoing. Several municipalities have incorporated into their own cities and gotten free of Atlanta and its taxes. The current mayor Kasim Reed is a black muslim who has announced Atlanta as a welcoming community and is bringing in muslims through Oslime as fast as he can.
I came to Houston in 2013 for work. Now I live 20 miles outside the city and only go into Houston for work. And I do my best to never stray off the highways and the loop.
And I carry!
Black Democrats in action. I hope no one was surprised by any of this. It’s SOP for them - massive corruption, constant calls for restrictions on gun ownership for the law abiding, blatant hypocrisy, tax increases, etc.
