Six maps from the American War of Independence, which helped convince George Washington to make a crucial change in strategy, go up for auction in a French chateau next month.

Either it's in a sleeve or it's a working copy. Yes, copies are that good.

Rochambeau's maps of the Revolutionary War are in the Library of Congress and can be viewed on line. They're extraordinary.

IIRC, the drawing of battlefield topography was a course of study at West Point, well into the early 20th century.
