DemocracyNow.org - Controversy erupted on the convention floor when a dispute broke out over whether to seat the delegates of presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. Part of Maine's delegation stormed off the floor in protest of a decision to strip away half of Paul's delegates. Supportive members of other delegations rose to their feet and hollered their objections, angered by new rules that they say they will make it harder for grassroots candidates to stand a chance in future elections. Democracy Now! producer Deena Guzder was on the scene and filed this report.

Ron Paul is no Donald Trump.
Ron was more like Ted Cruz, having finagled delegate that he didn’t earn through voting.
Let’s not forget who is at the helm of the convention for delegates in Cleveland - Paul Manafort - enough said.
Nailed it.
/bingo
I don't think we knew how bad it is, both political parties. It's been that way since GWB got steamrolled into the nomination with massive amounts of money, cutting off Forbes and Quayle. We went along with all the dismissive stuff the puppetmasters told us.
Thanks to Trump and Sanders tearing the system apart. We now know we've had NOTHING to do with choosing the President since Ronald Reagan.
It's an argument to use to convince folks to vote for Trump. Who knows what else we'll learn if we can clean the old garbage out of DC?
I’m wondering if Paul Manafort’s skills skills will keep the election honest.
I predict the rat convention may be a tad bit more ‘contested’ than the gop one.
Ron Paul likes to hide the truth about the Treasury - the other head on that financial crisis serpent. He gains support when it comes to the Fed, but keeps everyone in the dark about how the Treasury works.
Ron Paul isn’t who he seems to be. Still a good guy, but his armor isn’t shiny.
Another “BINGO!” moment.
While we talk about the GOP stuff, I feel a lot of us are ignoring the strife on the other side. The enemy is about to experience it’s first “split” in more than a century.
I hope Bernie has Joe Leiberman on speed dial - he’s gonna see first hand how the Dems eat their own when they stray off the plantation even slightly.
And I hope Bernie is enough of a psychopath to continue his bid. I really, really hope this. If Bernie is on that ballot then Clinton has no mathematical chance of winning. If she does win, then the crime will be obvious.
Prior to this debacle, most state delegations were in no way bound to vote for the candidate who won the most votes in the first round. Following this, 48 out of 50 states had such a requirement.
Sen. Santorum had won several states, only to have his win stripped away from him by Ron Paul’s maneuvers to crash the state parties and have his loyalists elected in spite of having no intention to vote for the winner.
This is not to say that the states ever intended to have “faithless delegates” as they were called. Delegates were expected to vote for who they were assigned to vote for, based on elections, barring unusual circumstances, such a zombie candidacy being used to block a majority from forming.
And no, I don’t mean a “zombie candidate” as someone who persists after his election becomes unlikely, like people were worried Ted Cruz would be, but someone who was no longer a candidate, but didn’t want to free his delegates to help another candidate reach a majority.
So, really, the 2012 convention made huge strides towards democracy on one hand. On the other hand, it’s shameful that, yet again, unwritten codes of conduct had to be carved into stone, incapable of allowing responses to reasonable circumstances.
where did you come up with that?
The chair of the convention is Paul Ryan

Where did I come p with what? Paul Manafort works for T Rump. Paul Manafort was hired to be the convention leader for is campaign. I’m not sure what his title is, but, his expertise is in that area. Do your homework.
I know exactly what and who manafort is.
Paul Ryan is chair of the convention. He holds the gavel. He decides who to recognize etc etc
Manafort is a wrangler. That is what he needs to do but that usually is behind the scenes
They didn't allow it with Ron Paul but they are going to allow it with Ted Cruz??? What a corrupt organization...
