What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

I do. Cruz was my first choice and the pro-life, pro=America anti-establishment Trump was a close second. Trump appears to have gotten the better of Cruz. No way in hell am I going to standby and let Hillary or Bernie waltz in without a fight.

And no, we do not deserve Hillary. Those who take that attitude will soon be invited to post elsewhere.

If you do not instinctively understand what AYBABTU means you haven’t seen much of what’s happened here in the past. But yeah, this primary season has been nasty.

Don’t take it personally, Kat. We’re all just human trying to figure it out. The most important thing is eventually getting on the same page again. I’m pretty sure trump and Cruz were playing survivor and had an early coalition til the end when they’d agreed to go to war for the victory. If they can team up, then they have some respect for each other. That is something we can build common ground on.

Maybe it’s the first time I’ve supported someone that’s disliked so much on here.

Its 'populism' by definition. There's always been a significant percentage of them here. But like you I'm surprised at just how many there are.

Why are you surprised?

Our country is literally burning to the ground. Trump wins across every demographic, because most Americans clearly see that this isn't a time for ideological purity, but a time for putting out the fire before everything's lost.

America is the house and Trump is the fireman come to save it.

#263 So tell me specificy what a good deal looks like between the Rats and Trump on the individual right to keep and bear arms after the heller ruling? Given that the courts have spoken and the left wants to outlaw.

Whay would you all think if the “art of the deal” was to get something like the A W.B. reauthorized to keep the rat politicians at bay for a while?

How about letting 20 Million illegals becoming citizens negotiated to stop sanctuary cities?

The last two elections I was told to put my principles aside and vote for the man with the “r” behind his name even though I disagreed on several issues.

This election I’m being told to keep my principles and vote for the “true” conservative even though everyone should know he will never win the general election.

I’m going to put my principles aside and vote the “r” who has two issues I agree with.

“Look we have voted for conservative. We actually changed the senate to conservatives. What good did it do? Nothing changed. We need someone who is willing to actually get something done, not someone who proclaims himself the most conservative.”

Exactly !

Cruz outperforms Trump against Hillary in every general election poll.

Do you not realize that the only Republicans who can win the presidency are social conservatives? Reagan and Bush expressed their deep faith in God and Jesus. Dole, Ford, McCain and Romney didn’t. Which one is Cruz more like? Trump?

Well thats great. So why would a pro life conservative like you be supporting the very pro choice Trump?

No one, and I mean no one actually believes Trump is pro life. Every one who votes for him knows exactly where he stands and that he is lying about being pro life.

Its sad. As a country we probably deserve Hillary.

And what exactly has the “pro life” GOP done to deserve the support of pro life voters? Outside of maybe Henry Hyde amendment, nothing. The GOP continues to abuse the base with promises on red meat issues they have no intention of ever delivering on.

The good deal would be to deport them all, and let them apply to come back in legally...
