What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

I’ve been around FR during the elections of 2004, 2008 and 2012, and to say that this election year is just like those, is an understatement, beyond belief.

This year, it is definitely different. There is WAY more vitriol, way more snide, sarcastic and rude comments flying back and forth.

I don’t recall people who supported Romney, or even McCain, for instance, being bullied and attacked the way those who oppose Trump are.

I don’t recall Romney or McCain supporters, being eviscerated and flamed nearly as much as Cruz supporters are.

If you can’t see the clear difference in prior elections to this one, than you ARE blind.

I’ve always thought that we should bring back dueling.

With today's handgun technology, I would want 50 paces (+/- 100 yards). And, I would take very long paces!

To be clear. I despise Hillary. I despise Obama. I despise Democrats. They are in power. I support whomever is nominated to get them out of power. My preference would be Cruz, but I’ll hold my nose and go to the American Consulate in November to vote for Trump, too. Conservative? I’ll settle for ‘not Hillary’ and start from there. Actual ideological conservative would be great, but right now it might be a luxury we can’t yet afford. What we will have is Obiwan, whoever he is. So be it.

Your post should be a thread dear

Very well done and is exactly how I feel

The self righteous superiority of Cruzatics in light of getting whipped is

Off putting.

Well thats great. So why would a pro life conservative like you be supporting the very pro choice Trump?

No one, and I mean no one actually believes Trump is pro life. Every one who votes for him knows exactly where he stands and that he is lying about being pro life.

Its sad. As a country we probably deserve Hillary.

Trump is the doctor that will save America from dying and will stabilize it. Then, when Trump is through, Cruz will use conservatism as the treatment that will bring America back to health and glory.

Day before yesterday I voted for Trump. Why, let me tell you. Do I trust Trump? No, like Rubio he will likely betray the people that elected him. But he is the only one saying the unPC truths, and stating he will do something to prevent our system, based on the Enlightenment, from being swamped by an alien culture (i.e., the reconquest by Mexico.) I basically believe Cruz is a better person, but I do not believe Cruz can win the national election nor willing to prevent our country from being Latinized. Neither do I believe he is a “natural born citizen.” If Trump is elected, I will probably be kicking myself a year or two from now, but I see no alternative. I voted for him because I felt I had no real alternative.

>>>define conservative...<<<

At it’s most basic meaning it simply defines all those that despise Democrats and everything they stand for.

Works for me!

It is white to black. In this new polarized nation, it is everyone that stands on the right side of history. It is those that appreciate the price our fathers paid that died on the battlefield that we can even have this conversation.

Some want to believe a conservative is anyone with an R on their voter registration card - but congress has proven that the word ‘conservative’ is going the way of other great words like ‘gay’ and ‘bad.’ They no longer mean what they once meant.

Well said, as is your home page.

Just an observation: it appears that more Trump supporters have blank home pages, while "Cruzers" do not. I could be wrong, though.

I believe that when it comes to projecting Trump’s percentage in the primaries, in the aggregate the pollsters have been within 1%. They have identified and understood the quantitative support Trump has. Dead bullseye.

Interestingly, these very same pollsters have also quantified Trump vs. Hellary head-to-head something like 60 times, give or take. And of those polls, Hellary has won something like 90% of the time.

If they have zeroed in their methodology to predict Trump’s performance in the primaries, are they also correct in projecting the General Election? Just something to mull over.

A wall is not going to be built. Until CONGRESS is changed, nothing will change. Donald Trump is not going to change Congress, he will make deals. And Congress is not building a wall.

Those are some mighty declarative sentences; do you believe if you keep repeating them, only this time louder, they might actually become true? LOL

The US DoD budget - not including black ops - is funded to the tune of $multi-trillions. The country is still technically operating under various security pronouncements & requirements.

From what I gather, apparently what you're saying is: even though a wall would be considered an essential part of the country's defensive perimeter system, no funds could be allocated with current budget authorizations to finance construction of this important infrastructure project?

You're a joke. Go play somewhere else - maybe someone will listen to the Dem talking points.

“Mr. Trump is deceiving a ton of people at this site who should know better.

Rest assured Trump will cut DEALS with the DC establishment should he be elected President.”

Looks to me like it is Cruz who is cutting deals with the DC establishment. Today we see Linda Graham holding a fundraiser for Ted. Neal Bush is on board. I think you have it totally wrong. I am going with Trump and Sessions.
