The Current Very Bad Choices for the GOPE
Self | 2/26/2016 | LS

Posted on 02/26/2016 3:52:07 PM PST by LS

A number of things have crystallized in the last week, none of them good for the GOPe. First, the latest (foolish) mantra:

Trump "was exposed" by Cruzbio in the debate. No such thing. Only Cruzbio fanboys think anyone seriously hurt Trump, let alone stopped his momentum.

What continually gets exposed is that no matter WHO Trump hired years ago to build WHATEVER. . . He alone actually hired someone and built something. Please, please Cruzbio, keep hitting that nail.

What about Trump's weakness on health care reform? What no one will say is that (as was Obama's design) this is so convoluted merely "repealing every word" would be in the short term a massive disaster, and no one has a real plan to fix it without pain. All agree on the "insurance across state lines" but beyond that, none get an advantage on this.

Donors? Please, go there again. Trump wins this sound bite (as he will with Cankles) every time.

So what is left for Cruzbio? We have a two-headed hydra where neither has a chance without the other. But the coalition is as weak as that of Black Dan Webster and John Calhoun: fundamentally, running back by committee seldom works. Cruz's strength (slipping fast) is the "constitutional conservatives" and he has the better claim to wanting to shut down the border. His peeps, however, will NOT universally embrace Open Borders Marco. Many will go to Trump if it's Trump vs Rubes.

But Cruz trails badly in 3rd place excep TX, UT, and AR. I believe he will win 2, and maybe all 3, of those states (but obviously not all delegates). Rubes, on the other hand, is set to come in second almost everywhere (except in TX and AR)---yet can't win a single state.

If I understand the GOP process correctly---and let me know if I am wrong---a candidate must win at least four states going into the convention or he gets NO delegates. (I guess they are released, I don't know).

So you have one guy who possibly might get four states---but far fewer delegates overall vs a guy who will have more delegates, but no states. NEITHER DARES RELEASE HIS DELEGATES lest a bunch bolt to Trump.

Then there is the elephant in the room which is that in big delegate states like IL, NY, FL, MI, not to mention the whole east coast, Trump will sweep those easily.

The point is, it's not that there isn't a path to victory for Cruzbio---there isn't even a path to an honorable capitulation.

Amazing just join with the GOPe to force a brokered convention, then you might even get Lindsey Grahm.
Or just relax and vote GOP or DEM.
Life gives us tough decisions even when we know we are right, we could be wrong.

.

If the GOPe had negotiated with Cruz instead they could have stopped Trump.
Yeah, it would have been the strangest bedfellows of the century. But it would have been better for the GOPe than Trump.

Anyway it’s all over soon.
I’ll vote for Ted Tuesday and, I assume, for Trump in Nov.

A Brokered GOP Convention will GUARANTEE Hillary is the next POTUS and will relegate the GOP Party to the dustbin of History. Heck, many People think Lincoln was a DemoncRat.

A Brokered DemoncRat Convention will only bruise their Party.

I’m just along for the ride until May.

If it’s still a horserace by then, my decision was made a lot harder by Teds performance last night.

He just keeps chipping away at my support to the point I’ll have to hold my nose to vote for him, and reaffirms my original concerns about his candidacy.... He’s just not ready.

Once upon a time, the RNC brought together a brain trust of GOPe party elders to figure out what had gone wrong. Obama had just throttled Romney, the party lost ground in the Senate, and voters just weren/t into the Old Christian White Man demographic. So the Big Tent of gays, abortionists, secularists, feminists, was resurrected.....and conservatives were herded onto an ice floe set adrift in the Arctic Ocean.

IMHO, the ignominious collapse of Jeb-You/re-Next drove a huge stake into the heart of the establishment GOPe. Forget erectile dysfunction. The fallout of being politically castrated is devastating to a Big Buck power broker.

The GOPe de-b***ing began when candidate Jeb said he didn't need the Republican base .... and proceeded to carry on, business as usual, as his numbers sunk into oblivion.

Jeb telling a key bloc of Republican voters to take a hike is the consequence of the country club GOPe demeaning and dismissing conservatives as not being worthy of their elite party.

The entitled Jeb-You/re-Next took it as Gospel when he heard the Bush elders condescending attitude towards conservatives....people to whom the aristocratic Bush/s feel socially superior.

But the GOPe should know this: they will get no pity from conservatives for their woes......
and we aim to stick their noses in the mess they made every frickin' chance we get.

===============================================

HOLY HEDGE FUND! Jeb-You/re-Next spent over $125 million on his failed campaign? The GOPe must be choking on the chilled Cristal, Oestra caviar, and stuffed lobster in the country club Grill Room.

Rubio is just the gope’s cabana boy. The rules will be bent at the convention and they will try to give Mitt the nomination.

Another vanity changing words and deeds of their candidate to fit one’s hopes and dreams. Ignoring facts, slapping them in their faces while trashing good, honest real Conservatives. This is the same thing Obama’s followers did. Only it’s people I thought were on the same side.
It’s going to end badly. Just as it did with Obama. I’m throwing up my hands in disgust.
So, when Trump has taken Republicans to a new low there won’t be enough of us to get things right the next time. In fact I predict Trump will tank the party so low you won’t see another win for forty years.
As far as a website for God, family, and Conservatism, Free Republic is dead. It’s a rah, rah, site for a man seeking more power and more money for his pocket.
Not enough of us left to pick up the trash when wind has blown through.

Several years ago HBO did a miniseries about John Adams. In the final episode, near the end of his life Adams is taken to see that painting. And he takes artist John Trumbull to task on how wildly inaccurate it is. About how none of those men were assembled together like that for the signing, how many of them were on the run from the British and could only sign it later.

Very good series. Quite worth getting a hold of.

.....my decision was made a lot harder by Ted/s debate performance. He keeps chipping away at my support, and reaffirms my original concerns about his candidacy.... He/s just not ready.....

Some Texans say the Cruz that ran for the Senate is not the Cruz seen on the presidential circuit. Trusting Texans spent time and money on him.....making calls on Cruz/s behalf for the votes that helped him win his Senate office.

Nowadays, these onetime Cruz supporters are airing their gripes. Many are p!ssed at Cruz for not disclosing that as a Senate candidate, he was still a Canadian citizen. It/s not helping Cruz to be called liar at his public appearances. The Carson Iowa fiasco still reverberates followed by the Bible video debacle.

Cruz/s political blunders pile up ... one disaster after another. But there are similarities: Cruz is looking more and more like the late unlamented prez candidate, ex-Texas Gov Rick Perry-—two stealth candidates trusting Texans hardly knew.

At first, Cruz (like Perry) looked good....prez material, even. Then candidate Cruz (like Perry) began admitting things that trusting Texans knew nothing about.

Gov Perry shocked his constituents when he admitted in a presidential debate that he was using trusting Texans tax dollars to give illegals in-state tuition...and that they were heartless b/c they did not like this use of tax dollars. (Perry also installed the country’s first Sharia Court in Texas....active to this day).

Cruz heaped on the surprises:

<><> I didn/t know I was a Canadian citizen when I ran for the Senate until the media exposed it.

<><> I told trusting Texas voters wifey and I were liquidating family assets so I could get into the Senate.

<><> I didn/t know I was supposed to tell the FEC I borrowed over a million from my Wall Street margin accounts to fund my campaign.

<><> I told Mark Levin the borrowed funds were used for campaign ads....but I didn/t report this as required.

<><> And so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

==========================================

BACKSTORY In Texas, Cruz/s Senate election fairy tale has become legendary......portraying himself to trusting Texans as a scrappy populist putting everything on the line to overcome a wealthy establishment opponent.

He was whining in the media, telling trusting Texans that he, and his faithful little wife (a $700,000 globalist lawyer employed by G/S), were forced to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.

NOW TEXANS LEARN Cruz did not liquidate family assets.....he got his hands on over a million dollars from his hefty margin accounts at G/S and Citibank......and did not disclose this on FEC reports (to keep it a secret from trusting Texans).

Cruz did not disclose loans on FEC reports (required by law) b/c Texans would have discovered he was not the aw-shucks rube he pretended to be. He continued the rube act in order to milk votes from trusting Texans.

At the same time, he also did not disclose he was a Canadian citizen......the Harvard-educated lawyer w/ two Ivy League degrees said he didn’t know.

When the Dallas Morning News published Cruz/s Canadian birth certificate, Cruz put Texans through the charade of renouncing his Canadian citizenship.....even though Canada did not recognize dual citizenship at the time of his birth.
