Donald Trump continues to amaze. Wednesday afternoon, he strode onto the Regent University stage (an influential Christian University) and received a prolonged standing ovation from the evangelical audience. He went on to speak eloquently about the importance of family (he even brought out his two sons who spoke highly of him), nominating pro-life judges, defending Israel, etc. After hearing what he had to say, he left over an hour later to another standing ovation. I saw it with my own two eyes. I was there as the moderator of this presidential forum. After seeing those evangelicals rise to their feet, I thought to myself how Ted Cruz must be downing huge Alka-Seltzer tablets as we speak. After all, it was Cruz who was supposed to get all the love from evangelicals. Instead, Trump has invaded his turf. What happened?

I appreciate you posting this. It was discussed on Morning Joe.
I erred commenting about it on another thread, thinking it was an ovation occurring in TEXAS, but it was South Carolina.
South Carolina and TEXAS have a LOT in common, however. TRUMP can take TEXAS.
>>> the importance of family
Kids with three wives. Ok.
I wonder if they cheered when he bragged about having sex with married women. Oh, I guess he forgot to mention that to the evangelicals.
And from all accounts, pretty upstanding kids.
It was discussed on Morning Joe.
If you post your address, I will send flowers next Wednesday.
Did he talk about the 2 Corinthians while waving his mother’s bible around?
Cnn reporting that Cruz may not win his home state.
You're right - Trump has always said he would defend Israel...
I didn’t know Trump was Mormon!
How sad, that a man who brags he’s never asked for forgiveness is cheered at such a place.
It tells much about the dumbing down of Christianity.
It’s really a good thing for kids to go through a couple of divorces.
“Ultimately, politics is about forging an emotional connection with voters. Bill Clinton did it. George W. Bush did it. Barack Obama did it. And Donald Trump is now doing it. Is it fair to someone like Cruz who is a staunch rock-ribbed conservative? No itâs not. Is it a reality? Unfortunately for Cruz it is.”
I think the article recognizes the reality; Cruz is a great guy, but between the issues in Iowa, the National Review blitz, and frankly Glenn Beck, he’s allowed his friends and staffers to mud him.
Conversely, Trump is getting flak from conservatives’ and evangelicals’ *enemies*, which fires up Trump supporters. Also, Trump’s background in media makes him adept at making that emotional connection; Cruz’s background in law makes him adept at making arguments.
I’m on the Trump side, but would gladly vote Cruz in the general — but I think that’s a low-percentage possibility at this point. Who knows? Bottom line: better either one than a Rubio or a Dim.
“Kids with three wives. Ok.”
Kids that he takes care of and who have turned out quite well.
Judge much?
It happens. It even happens among Evangelicals, if you look around.
Certainly, TRUMP children were the very first accomplishment of the three wives, and desired by the wives, as a forever link to the billionaire, no matter what.
It has certainly worked, as it should.
There are always some people who will just harp with blame on the bad part of a mixed situation.
Donald’s multiple marriages, for whatever it’s worth, didn’t end in rancor or even battles over the children. They look like marriages of convenience. If the worst marital failures in America all looked like Donald Trump’s marital failures, I would say there would be far, far less chaos in urban jungles.
I went to a doctor earlier this morning. He had graduated from medical school in Baghdad when the Shah of Iran was still in power. Now the Shah didn’t always make his sausages in a most sanitary fashion, and Jimmy Carter got on his case about it, and the result is what we all know now. They know him as an excellent doctor at the clinic. He’d likely never have been here as a doctor had that Shah not been in power.
Thanking God for the goodness in mixed situations is the first step in seeking improvement in them. It’s easy enough to damn. You don’t even need God to do it. The devil is happy to oblige. But the results also look like the devil.

Not really. What’s telling is your breathtaking arrogance.
