Donald Trump has often promised to repeal the “disaster” that is Obamacare and he’s right, it is a disaster.
But at Thursday night’s CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall in South Carolina, Donald Trump embraced what is easily the worst part of Obamacare, the anti-free market “individual mandate” which forces Americans to buy only government-approved health care insurance, whether they want to or not.
To justify his support for the Obamacare mandate, Donald Trump uses leftist talking points of not wanting people to “die in the streets,” as if they has ever happened in America — before or after Obamacare.
Here’s how Donald Trump answered CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night (emphasis added):
DONALD TRUMP:“Well, I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this – look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. I mean, we get big crowds.“
Allow me to break down the “logic” of this:
WATCH BELOW:
Got that exactly backwards. Trump supporters listen to the whole series of answers on the topic, Cruz people seize a single word and try to re-write the answer to validate their emotional opinions.
Shamless attempt at lying by omission.
Will be interesting to read the excuses from trump supporters.
No it isn’t and you saying so doesn’t make it so. The mandate of Obamacare is either you buy or you get fined by the government. Everybody knows that. My guess is that this is one more word-pickery in attempting to gin up a false meme. I am sick of it. And guess what. It will not make a difference except to give give false hope to Cruzers and give them a tingle down their leg.
Stop it with your keeping things in an honest context! /s
Yes. We do have to figure out a way to help people. The healthcare system was out of control before Obamacare and Obama made it worse.
A carpet bomb of last minute false smears from Team Cruzman Sachs? Shocking.
Go to Trump’s Twitter feed. He’s just posted a clarification of his remarks. He’s being railroaded falsely!
Which mandate? There are two mandates:
Mandate 1- you must purchase insurance
Mandate 2-The indigent must have access to health care
You can’t reason with Cruzbots, they are desperate and fail to report the whole truth - just like their candidate. I fear they are a lost cause.
Emergency rooms cannot turn down patients. Not only for liability reasons, in some cases, it's against the law.
Obamacare was foisted on us by the government to purchase a product or be penalized. Unconstitutional. Furthermore, Obozocare was formulated with help from several insurance companies. Screw competition....we will have the government force you to buy our product.
Be assured, if the government can force us to purchase something against our will...healthcare, they can in the future force us to purchase insurance to own a firearm or whatever other scheme they dream up.
How’s that Trump-aid taste? Guyana Grape flavor?
See post 5 and look at the words in context.
Stand strong Apple, stand strong.
If trump really believes that, then he is tech illiterate and the implications of the FBI having the key.
Don’t worry, all the formerly conservative Trumpkin-FReepers have abandoned their principles, and will rationalize this away, like they have every other indication of his true colors... That cognitive dissonance must be a bitch...
LOL. Cruzies have abandoned principled conservatism to support a man who campaigned for Barack Obama in the U. S. Senate and stuffs his pockets with millions of dollars in anonymous, money laundered donations. Pot, meet kettle.
You cannot eliminate Obama care without eliminating the mandate to purchase, otherwise their is nothing to purchase.
[Trump has been losing support in SC this week so hopefully this will continue to help people to wake up to the fact that Trump is not the man they have been hoping he is.]
Did you hear that from the bullshit NBC/WSJ poll???
Ha ha...Cruz’s flunkies continue to spread lies and distortions. The good news is the public realizes this and Cruz now has the highest unfavorables of all the candidates. Keep the lies coming. It raises Trump’s numbers!!!!
Go to the article, then scroll down. There is the 2.5 minute video of that part of the conversation.
Look at it yourself and listen in context.
(Yes. They were talking about insurance companies taking on people with pre-existing conditions)
