I won't say *publicly* how or where there could be a plan in place.

Bugging out assumes you can get to where you want to go safely. If you live in Chicago, yeah get out. But you would be better off getting out before hand.

If the balloon goes up, the long term looks bad no matter what. I have a place I could go, but it would probably be shelter in place.

I’ve thought about that before and came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter.

“They” know that you have and even if they wanted to do something about it, think about all the problems that would cause.

Reminds me of one of those “motivational” posters I’d see in peoples’ offices, back in the 70s.

I can see the keyboard commando’s are already questioning you in that train of thought.

Bugging out should mean you never plan on coming back. Most don’t even get to thinking it through to that point.

Well, folks need to make their own decisions based on their needs and circumstances. *One-Size* does not fit all.

“Our economy is treated the same way - inventories are taxed. Do people have any idea what danger that leads to? Tight inventory on food, medicine, shovels, etc. Just look at the blizzard and runs on stores. Storage space should be ENCOURAGED, and so should inventory.”

Don’t I know about taxes on inventory. I withhold pay from myself to increase my inventory and then pay income tax on the inventory I have accumulated by delaying gratification. That’s what our country has come to; rewarding sloth and penalizing ambition.

“Well meaning” politicians and bureaucrats manage to put taxes on anything you have or due that is spelled ending with a letter from our alphabet in order to fund the promises of free stuff to their voters. As is typical with progressives, any downside is never considered.

I have never, ever had anyone tell me that he had too much ammunition. Not in a combat zone

I was issued 12 rounds of 9MM in Desert Storm. Evidently, the Saudis we were advising thought it was more important for their NCOs to have plenty of ammo to shoot in the air with their Steyr's to celebrate kills, Kapsa, morning bowel movements, etc.

I almost had the ol' lady send me a couple of boxes by mail. Wasn't needed as I turned in 10 rounds when I left, having wasted 2 rounds on a starving Iraqi shooting at us from 800+ meters as we were clearing un-exploded ammo from dead Iraqi vehicles at Al Khafji just before the ground war kicked off. The Saudis eliminated the threat with a TOW missile, classic Arab overkill as the same V150 had a cupola mounted 50 cal.

Congratulations... you dog.

I’m still stuck here freeping... er, working.

If you shoot up all your retirement income you can always greet people at Wal-Mart; they sell ammo, maybe you can get an employee discount. :-)

In Vietnam there was a night when their position was overrun. The guy who was carrying a M-60 MG was on the larger side and finally decide he couldn't run any more.

So he sat down, set up the pig and started firing at the enemy. He asked all retreating AG's who were passing him to drop off their ammo.

Other guys decided they were tired too and decided to join the party.

Eventually they broke the enemy attack.

If there are people there and he is defending a position he will have help. Running is exhausting.

It is a good idea to have a personal inventory. But in the cities, apartments have limited space. That’s where a lot of people would suffer the crunch very quickly due to inventories being taxed and warehouse space being dis-incentivized.

That is a really good quote.

Regarding firearms, what is the recommended procedure for getting and keeping antiques and commemoratives up to standard where they could be used as backups? Ammo for some of the antiques is hard to come by and expensive. Do you buy as much ammo as you would an AR-15 or an AK-47?
