First, candidate Trump carried on a long-distance bromance with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, calling him "a strong leader" and saying it was a "great honor" to have Putin compliment him.
Now Trump has expressed admiration for an even loonier goon: North Korea's boy tyrant Kim Jong Un. Speaking at a rally in Ottumwa, IA, Trump veritably gushed about the leadership qualities of Kim.
"If you look at North Korea, this guy, he's like a maniac, OK?" Trump said at a rally in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Saturday.
"And you've got to give him credit: How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals and all of a sudden, you know, it's pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that?" he added.
"Even though it is a culture, and it's a culture thing, he goes in, he takes over, he's the boss. It's incredible."
After North Korea's government said it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb earlier this week, Trump called the authoritarian leader a "madman playing around with nuke" and a "total nut job."
But he also insinuated that Kim had some admirable qualities.
"I mean, it's amazing that a young guy would go over and take over," Trump said Thursday on Fox News' "On the Record." "You know, you would have thought that these tough generals would have said no way this is gonna happen when the father died.
âSo he's gotta have something going for him, because he kept control, which is amazing for a young person to do," he added.
You would hope that Trump is simply ignorant of how the "amazing" Kim was able to get and keep control. There have been numerous purges of high officials -- even family members -- and gruesome executions.
As for Putin, PJ Media contributor Kim Zigfeld has compiled a long list of suspected assassinations of Putin critics and enemies.
These men aren't simply awful or bad actors. They are evil. Trump's problem is that he is unable to place their actions in a moral context. If he could, he wouldn't be using adjectives like "amazing" to describe a stone-cold killer like Kim.
For whatever reason, Donald Trump has failed a crucial test of leadership: the ability to project a coherent moral dimension to his campaign. He reserves his outrage for Muslims, Mexicans and his political enemies. Meanwhile, evildoers like Gaddafi, Kim, and Putin receive praise.
There is absolutely nothing to admire in Kim or Putin. They are the enemies of civilized behavior and should be held in utter contempt. That Trump doesn't place their actions in a moral context should be worrying to anyone who cares about U.S. leadership.
And, as we know, some FReepers prefer a strong man. [pun intended]
Do you Trump Cultists ever use any part of your brain to think anymore? Get educated already.
The trump stupid burns bright on this.
“amazing” is not a compliment.
Big non-story here - another puny attempt to discredit Trump.
Probably because it's perfectly clear he did no such thing.
Dennis Rodman is available for Secretary of State.
Based on your reasoning, we should make Warren Buffet or Bill Gates president. They have amassed great fortunes, bigger than Trump’s.
If that’s what you came away with, that’s okay with me.
It’s not what I came away with.
Enjoy...
So far everyone figures he's a narcissist and playboy which leads them to flatter and cajole him because they think that will win him over. Of course, after BJ Clinton and Narcissist Barry, maybe the US officials dealing with the NK crowd are just in the habit of kowtowing to such folks.
How's that workin' out ?
Still need proof that Mister Trump is both remarkably ignorant and cringe-worthy foolish?

Have you watched DJT grow from the early 80’s until now?
I really never thought he would throw his financial hat out there but Obama and the GOPe is disgusting.
He knows.
Hey Kas, your fellow Trump-hater (Cincinatus Wife) posted this same drivel earlier today. Think about the bandwidth, huh?
Strong like skunk? (That’s actually pretty much the Trump take.)
I’m sure Trump was thinking of John Kerry. Kerry comforted the nation last week when he said the United States (he) was keeping a watch on North Korea. I personally was a bit alarmed until his assurance softened things up. Now, no one has to worry about a thing. John Kerry is on the job.
Trump didn’t simply note that these are powerful men; he expressed personal admiration. Trump did so because he’s a narcissistic freak, and those in that club tend to like each other.
These kinds of things are forever chances for someone to post PART of what Trump said, and then to flout that pitiful maimed straw man. Could FR ever, ever learn to grow out of that game?
When you get the rest of his comments then a different view can emerge. Something like “What an exploit — a rotten one, I mean.”
I wish that Trumpets would wake up and realize that their guy is a little nutty.
LOL....you one to be talking about putting on knee pads
