Sen. Ted Cruz will skip Tuesday's State of the Union, the final such address of President Obama's time in office.
"It's not a snub. He's going to be in New Hampshire, working hard to win New Hampshire," Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told the Dallas Morning News.
"No disrespect. It just is going to work out this way," Tyler said.
Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., and Rand Paul, R-Ky., plan to attend.
Rubio has been criticized in the past for skipping Senate votes and duties. Cruz, though less vocal than other candidates, has at times joined the chorus against the Florida senator.
Rubio was derided when he missed the vote on December's omnibus legislation.
"I'm going to let Marco defend his own voting record. I can tell you that I flew back to Washington, D.C. today to vote against this omnibus," Cruz said in December.
".@marcorubio FOUND! - Missed the spending bill vote today b/c he had 1 event in a row in Iowa - a record-setting breakneck pace for Marco," Tyler tweeted in December.
I will just wait for radio talk to explain what Obummer said.
If the GOPe had any cajones they would all be somewhere else on that night.

Can’t wait for Cruz lapdog Levin to fawn over Cruz skipping SOTU in lieu of campaigning. Same Levin who’s criticized Rubio for skipping Senate business to campaign.
I don’t even care what Obama said in his little last ditch party. He’s a Kenyan Muslim and we’ll all be better off without him. Nothing he says will be of any real import to Homeland Americans.
I hope that none of ‘real’ Supreme Court Judges show either.
Does this mean Cruz is desperate and freefalling, since he is working NH instead of his duty as Senator?
I like it Ted. I too have better things to do with my time than to attend this latest episode of Performance Art from the White House. I’m not in the mood to play ‘Make Believe’ anymore. I hope Ted does not change his mind. I predict Rand Paul might copy him for different stated reasons. Kasich, Jeb! and Huck will see Ted, and go Tsk, Tsk, shaking their fingers in admonishment.
All Republican politicians should volunteer to ladle up soup in the many food pantries to feed the Obama homeless and hopeless at that time. Would send one heck of a message.
And please don't tell me it's a photoshop of some sort.
I would love to know what was said to get that reaction.
Best .gif ever!
Worth repeating.
What does the Constitution say about the SOTU?
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both HousesYeah. Thanks, but no thanks.
No, it means that like the rest of us, he's in no mood to sit there and get lectured, harangued, and lied to by King Barry.
I’m going to skip it too, and the GOPE response.
That was during a state of the Union address a couple of years ago and the great applause line was Obama announcing the DREAM act or something similar. (I remember it was an open borders line)
I’m skipping it too but Im sure on Freeper with a steel stomach will watch and post details of the Liar In Thief for us.
So this means you are upset if he didn’t try to nail Cruz because you support Rubio or you just don’t like Cruz because he is the only conservative in the stage?
That’s an excellent idea!!!
