Happy Birthday Marines! You seem to be the last bastion of good tradition remaining. Hold the line! You always have.

No better friend, no greater enemy, no better reputation.

With admiration.

I remember a corpsman in war games in prep for the first desert war. He came over to our fighting hole and sat down and started talking to us. I said hey why dont you come down here and talk to us.

He said “I am ok here”.

I replied to him “not unless you want to be the first one dead, Come down here and look where you are sitting”.

He came down and turned around. Then he said “Oh my god you can see the out line of everything”.

He was sitting on the crest line of the hilltop with a full moon behind him.

I am glad he knew battle aid cause he didnt know tactics haha.

Thanks for looking out for us.
