Senate passes budget and debt deal, sends measure to Obama
Fox News ^ | 30 October 2015 | Senate passes budget and debt deal, sends measure to Obama

Posted on 10/30/2015 1:43:31 AM PDT by napscoordinator

In a rare late-night session, the Senate gave final approval to an ambitious budget and debt deal early Friday, sending it to President Barack Obama to sign.

The final vote on passage was 64-35, as Democrats joined forces with Republican defense hawks over the objections of GOP presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio, all of whom voted against the deal. The bill is aimed at averting a debt default, avoiding a partial government shutdown and setting spending priorities for the next two years.

Earlier in Friday's session, the Senate voted 63-35 to end debate on the measure. The vote to approve the bill was taken just after 3 a.m. EDT.

Obama negotiated the accord with Republican and Democratic leaders who were intent on steering Congress away from the brinkmanship and shutdown threats that have haunted lawmakers for years. Former Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, felt a particular urgency days before leaving Congress, while lawmakers looked ahead to presidential and congressional elections next year.

Well there you go. Haven't gotten the list of "no's" yet but I am sure we will soon. 63 is Filibuster proof. Rand Paul gave an effort but failed big time. Nothing new with Republican show offs lately.

Spineless twits.

A parting shot from Boehner.

Yeah. Another vote at 3:15 am......I wonder when we will REALLY find out what is in it. I mean we know that SSDI scam is getting 80 percent raise....the drudges of society were supposed to having their welfare dropped by 80 percent. Now they will continue to get 100 percent sitting around watching TV. The military does go back to pre-sequestration times which in a way is ok but stop funding junk the pentagon doesn't want. So overall those are really the only two things that we know is in the bill. I think it strengthens medicare for the seniors. Our debt goes to just shy of 20 trillion. We need to have a debt relief concert....get all those wacky hollywood types and get on TV and beg Americans for money while giving a billion a piece. Supposedly the top 100 riches people in America could easily pay off our debt. That is amazing.

The entire fedgov is now rogue.
I have an extremely uncomfortable feeling that the U.S.A.’s clock is at about 23:59:55.

The bill is aimed at averting a debt default, avoiding a partial government shutdown and setting spending priorities giving Valerie Jarrett a blank check for the next two years.

Fixed.

And the Republican establishment wonders why the base doesn't buy their bullshit anymore.

Unless suddenly moved with irresistible throes of patriotism I’m not sure those rich folks would. It would take being inspired by something larger. Maybe Donald Trump is an early example, but he seems to be at most talking about sacrificing 4 to 8 years of his time.

Still, more may be possible than we think. A lot of America’s problems are things that stymie production, over-regulation, chasing after molehills of control that only choke us. The overspending might not even be the worst aspect.

This is the "budget" plan that shifts IOUs from the SS retirement fund to the SS disability fund.

I guess that saves them from having to print up new IOUs.

I don’t know what else to add but that I agree. This country has slit its wrists and is bleeding out on the floor. Not a thing can be done now. It is too late.

Fitting, since this (presumably) fully funds Planned Babykilling.

It has been a very long time that WE had an "election".

Why?

Voter fraud, the "New Black Panthers", ...

WE "assume" that OUR elections are "fair" when, in fact, they are not.
