I guess Tyler doesn't want to let "the music do the talking."

I don’t believe Aerosmith has any legal say on the usage of his song.

So, what are Steve Tyler’s politics, anyway?

(Yeah, yeah, I know, that’s not supposed to matter.)

The law should be clear, either he has obtained the license, or he fits in a fair use category, or none of that.

I don’t like lawfare but seems that Trump lawyers could hassle him a good one if he’s on defensible ground. It’s kind of an ironic parody, he’s saying that what these phonies claimed to mean in the song, he really means.

The article states he is a registered Republican. Another mentioned he has a friendly relationship with Trump. I am fairly positive that Joe Perry is right-of-center, too.

Yeah, he does. I think W got the rights to play “La Vida Loca” at the convention.

If Trump licensed it under ASCAP or whoever is the royalty collection society here, I’m not sure Aerosmith has a legal way to refuse.

I’d like to know the true worth of this cause of action. If Trump has purchased the music lawfully, why can’t he play it?

Let’s ask Joe Perry.

I am pretty sure Tyler is Republican. He wrote the song.

It is a pretty famous song subject to copyright abuse.

I don’t blame him for trying to protect it.

Dream On (Aerosmith song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_On_(Aerosmith_song)
Wikipedia

“Dream On” is a power ballad by Aerosmith from their 1973 debut album, Aerosmith. Written by lead singer Steven Tyler, this song became their first major hit ...

I assume that the writer of the song PROBABLY still owns the copyright to same??

It is their business. Trump is well aware of copyright issues both from his own brand and from music guidelines on The Apprentice.

Tyler's lawyer's can send all the letters they want, but if Trump's campaign legally bought or rented the song from the media company that owns it, then tough hooey!

I remember the gals from Heart sending a similar letter to the McCain campaign after it started using 'Barracuda' for Palin.

see my post 16. Joe Perry voted for McCain and Romney. Read his interview years ago in the Boston Herald and I swear it’s like reading a Freepers bio.
