Donald Trump should be scared of Marco Rubio
VOX ^ | 09/18/2015 | Zack Beauchamp

Late in the second Republican debate, "high energy" Donald Trump was sounding sleepy. When moderator Jake Tapper asked him about his history of flubbing it on basic foreign policy issues, he just sounded tired. "The world is blowing up around us," Trump rotely responded. "We will have great teams and great people."

Sen. Marco Rubio, whose campaign trail attack on Trump prompted Tapper's questions, pounced.

"You should ask him questions in detail about the foreign policy issues our president will confront, because you had better be able to lead our country on the first day," Rubio said to Tapper. "Not six months from now, not a year from now, on the first day in office, our president could very well confront a national security crisis. You can't predict it. Sometimes you cannot control it."

Trump's response — "I am not sitting in the United States Senate. I'm a businessman" — was basically no response at all. It was a devastating indictment of the Donald's qualifications to be president, one well-pitched to a party that's become increasingly anxious about world affairs since the rise of ISIS.

But it was much more than that. The Trump-Rubio exchange, overshadowed by some of the flashier showdowns in the media post-mortems, was one of the most important moments of the night. It showed that Marco Rubio is the most viable Republican Trump-slayer: an articulate, confident conservative with foreign policy expertise that far outstrips the other major candidates. His poll numbers make him look like a dark horse, but last night's debate revealed that Rubio has a real — and increasingly viable — shot at winning the nomination.

I will vote for my soiled underwear before I vote for amnesty-Rubio.

And Trump is right - he isn’t privy to many of the details of what is going on in national security. He is an outsider, but once he gets into office - he will have a top notch team in place to handle whatever comes up.

Why does FR even allow VOX to be posted here? It’s not a new site. It’s a RAT talking point aggregate so that the when the low information voter “Googles” something it comes up.

I actually missed this exchange. Rubio was right, and Trump was, as usual, defensive and lame.

Press is getting desperate to find someone that can take numbers from Trump.

Well, compared to the wearing effect this mock “debate” had on viewers like me (it wore me out - I couldn’t hack it), Trump seemed pretty lively to me.

It is really unfair to compare a 70 year old to a 44 year old. There is no comparison after standing for 3 hours. Give Trump some room. There is absolutely no task as President where Trump will have to stand for 3 hours straight. None. He should get a pass for being tired. It is unfair to have any 70 year old stand for that long. They should have had chairs for those who wanted to sit. It isn’t even good for you to stand 3 hours straight.

I hate to admit it but Rubio had a good night at the debates. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him enjoy a bump in the polls.

He seemed lively to me also. However, I just couldn’t watch three straight hours and skipped parts of it.

RE: I hate to admit it but Rubio had a good night at the debates.

Conservatives dislike him for working with Chuck Schumer in the Gang of 8 immigration bill.

But I have to hand it to him, he has the ability to explain foreign policy and other topics in a 2 minute or less clearly and concisely. That is an asset in a debate where you don’t have much time to speak.

Marco Rubio?

Would that be the same Marco Rubio who joined Bat-Poop Crazy democrats Sen. Charles “Scmucky” Schumer [D-NY], Sen. Robert Menendez [D-NJ], and Sen. Richard Durbin [D-IL] in the Gang Of Eight to support amnesty for illegals back in 2013?

Trump’s response — “I am not sitting in the United States Senate. I’m a businessman” — was basically no response at all.

It IS a response. Trump has not had access to all the information Rubio has had, and he has apparently spent some of his time reviewing domestic policies instead of studying a foreign affairs pop quiz by Hew Hewlett.

Marco Rubio is a metrosexual pandering wanna be RINO.

Phoney as a plastic Florida lawn flamingo.

The only real support he has are the mindless women who fawn over handsome or * Cutie Rubio *.

A manturian candidate like Obama.
