The Trump-Carly Faceoff
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | September 17, 2015 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 09/17/2015 1:35:45 PM PDT by Kaslin

RUSH: This is last night in the debate. This is the moderator Jacob Tapper. "In an interview last week in Rolling Stone magazine, Donald Trump said the following about you. Quote, 'Look at that face. Would anybody vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?' Mr. Trump later said he was talking about your persona, not your appearance. Please feel free to respond what you think about his persona."

FIORINA: It's interesting to me. Mr. Trump said that he heard Mr. Bush very clearly and what Mr. Bush said. I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said.

AUDIENCE: (applause)

TRUMP: I think she's got a beautiful face, and I think she's a beautiful woman.

RUSH: Okay. "I think she's got a beautiful face. I think she's a beautiful woman." As I mentioned to you, Gloria Borger was not pleased at all at all about this. Last night after the debate on Anderson Cooper 360.

COOPER: How big a mistake do you think it was for Donald Trump to come back --

BORGER: Terrible.

COOPER: -- to Carly Fiorina and say, "Actually, I think you have a beautiful face"?

BORGER: Terrible. First rule of holes: Stop digging. That's what I think. I mean, it was so patronizing.

RUSH: It was not sincere, she's saying. It was patronizing. He didn't mean it. He should have stuck with what he originally said and not said anything, let the applause go by and just let it sort of fade away on its own rather than give it more food, give it more energy by saying, "Beautiful face, beautiful this." Now, this may be a generational thing. My guess is that depending on the age of the person, you're gonna find a difference of opinion here.

Some people are gonna think that what Trump did was a valiant attempt at apologizing, covering up a mistake. Others are gonna agree with Gloria Borger that it was an absolute patronizing comment and he shouldn't have said it 'cause it doesn't look like he really means it or any of that that. Then on the Today Show today Savannah Guthrie said, "When you say that women in this country heard who Donald Trump said and knew what he meant, let me push you on that a little farther: What do you think women heard when Donald Trump said that about you?"

FIORINA: Women are still caricatured and scrutinized and criticized differently. And I think it's only a woman who would be criticized for her appearance while running for the highest office in the land. And so I think women know that. Women deal with that every day, and so I think women understood.

RUSH: You know, I don't know if that's true. Maybe publicly voiced, there might be something to it. But how many...? (interruption) What are you ta...? (interruption) What do you mean there might...? (interruption)What are you arguing? (interruption) You don't even know what I'm gonna say yet! (interruption) Okay. Then let me... (interruption)I know. The fat jokes with Christie. This was gonna be my point, but now we've reached another obscene profit break. So keep your pants up, folks.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: So Gloria Borger's all offended. Look at who she's offended at. So here's Donald Trump, says something about Carly Fiorina's face. Then he's called on it, does a flip-flop and says she's beautiful. Gloria Borger is righteously indignant. If you don't want to get indignant, don't ask the question. You know, deal with the debate moderator here. You guys got exactly what you wanted in that exchange, and then to complain about getting it is kind of disingenuous to me.

This is what bothers me about the Drive-Bys. They knew exactly what they wanted last night. They wanted exactly what happened. And then they get it and they start complaining about it. "It was pandering." Meanwhile, the genuine horn-dog-in-chief is out there skating along happily, mindlessly with no criticism whatsoever, and that's William Jefferson Clinton. And the same people bothered by whatever Trump did or didn't say and then came back and didn't say or did say, are the same people that applaud Bill Clinton, marvel at what a great guy he is. It's a double standard that continues to irritate me left and right. If you don't want the answer, Ms. Borger, if you don't like it, then don't go there. "I thought it was terribly pandering." What did you think was gonna happen when that comes up?

This is what bothers me about these people. This is what bothers me about choosing CNN as a venue, although I don't know where you go now to do one of these debates, but you gotta know certain things are gonna happen at CNN. One of the things that is gonna happen is exactly what happened. This debate was designed to make as many of those people on the stage look foolish as possible. A(interruption) No, I don't want to hear about me hosting it. Don't want to go there. I wouldn't be any good at it. You people that want me to host one of the things have got to get over it. I wouldn't be any good at it. Because I don't want to do it and if you don't want to do something, you're not gonna do it well.

I have no desire to do it. Believe me, just believe me. It wouldn't work. I couldn't keep my own opinions out of it. I'd end up dominating the damn thing. It would be panned. It would be ripped to shreds. I'd destroy the debate, I couldn't do it. I'm not that curious anyway. What I think is what counts and that's what I'm looking for, other people who agree with me. I'm not looking for people to change my mind on something. I know I'm right. I spent my life arriving at the conclusions I have on the things that matter. I don't want to subject myself to something to try to change my mind. What do I want to do that for?

This is so humorous! News media continues to push this story which just reinforces everyone’s own individual assessment of Carly’s face.

What a beautiful face it is! Wow!

(Trump has this right and a few media female-like people are kicking against it anyway.)

I agree. Whether he planned it or not by her reaction to him saying she has a “beautiful face” and her sourpuss reaction he showed her to be a bitter, domineering woman who no one would want to listen to, much less be around and he reinforced his original point - would you want that to be the face representing us? If she had smiled and accepted it as a compliment she would have won the exchange. As it is, she lost it badly and she’s doubling down by saying that a remark about her is a remark about ALL women showing she’s not ready to put her big girl panties on and stand for herself.

I think Mr. Trump missed his chance to nail Fiorina on the “politically correct” theme that won him accolades in the first debate against Meygen Kelly.

What is it with women who want to compete with men but whine and whimper if they’re attacked the way men are? This is where the lack of reason and accountability comes in with women who want to compete with men. If a woman wants to climb into the ring with the guys, then she should take the same blows a man gets. If she doesn’t like it, then she should get the heck out of the ring.

Trump said it right in the first debate: “I don’t have time, and America doesn’t have time, for political correctness.”

Rush doesn’t want to take on females after that stupid Fluke nonsense. So I’ll say it: Fiorini is a loser! An uptight, prim, prissy, micro-managing, middle-manager from hell! Worse, she reminds me of every bookkeeper I’ve ever met. Can you imagine a debate with Hillary and this one? Get me the gaspipe!

I didn’t like her at all she is IMHO a horrible candidate for president. Rush was pushing her today, they all are and I think it’s unwarranted.

She strikes me as Ruth Bader Ginzburg’s little sister.

Yes, Trump should have nailed her last night instead of calling her beautiful. Someone must have gotten to him. He sounded very insincere in that remark and Fiorini’s response was the usual grim, Church-Lady face that must cause male impotence across the lower 48.

No, he wasn’t. He spent more time on Trump. I don’t think Rush likes annoying women. After all, he’s had at least two of them in his life!

I think you are right. If, in fact, he was referring to her demeanor, he could have restated his explanation and commented on her dour expression.

Trump won that exchange when he brought up her record at HP and Lucent but the media won’t give him the point because they don’t want to go there because they don’t want Carly’s record carefully scrutinized. The want us all to just go on believing that she was some amazing CEO when nothing could be further from the truth.

I totally disagree. IF he had doubled down on his remark to RS - that’s all we would have heard 24/7 for the next 2 weeks. She would play the victim to the hilt. He took the wind out of her argument by saying she has a beautiful face, but should have added - she has the most beautiful face money can buy. Teehee! Just kidding. For him to say anything other than what he did would have been political suicide.

I was able to catch a little of Rush’s show. I was surprised to see him jump aboard the Fiorina bandwagon with such vigor.

Knows a lot about military concepts?? By reading off talking points from her debate team preparation? That must have been what she was writing down when they moved to the podium.

He did criticize her for pandering to the sisterhood over what Trump said.

By the way, Trump said what he said about her looks in a PRIVATE, and he thought, confidential, conversation. I would bet that 95% of the population thinks he said it in a speech. That is a major difference.

I was watching ‘Outnumbered’ this morning and Fiorina seems to bring out the bitterness in all these career women. Andrea Tantaros revealed her resentment of those mean men . . . It sounded like the previous generation of angry feminists.

She strikes me as Ruth Bader Ginzburg’s little sister.

True... but my first thought was Ruth Buzzy's character on the old "Laugh In" show. Throw a hair net on her, dress her in baggy clothes/stockings...and give her a sack purse. There ya go.

It’s interesting that Florina used the “humble” term “millions” to describe the cost of a wall and deporting people.

I wish that GOPe candidates like Fiorina would address the billions that taxpayers would probably be spared when illegal aliens are no longer receiving unconstitutional federal welfare support after the millions on wall and deporting are spent.

And speaking of unconstitutional federal welfare, does anybody think that Ms Fiorina would encourage Congress to propose an amendment to the Constitution to repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment?

LOL I don’t know why she is offended. She did the same thing to Barbara Boxer when she was running against her. Don’t be so thin skinned Carly or trying one of Hitlery’s tricks to gain sympathy. I am not on your side.

I probably have some resentment as well. I’ve been mistreated by guys in my professional life...and feminists as well. That’s why I probably wouldn’t make a very good presidential candidate. Bitterness is not an attractive quality.

I dislike Tantaros immensely. In fact, I dislike The Five and prefer the Food Network at that hour.
