“That’s an “if” on the scale of stellar distances, and stellar masses. “

I agree. Therein lies the problem.

40% are flying in and jumping visa, more will come that way after the wall is built. The wall is a necessary but insufficient provision against the flood.

He is a good man. He’s also a doctor - and he cares about people being safe. It’s one of his strong points... and one of his weak points.

True.

And Ike was more concerned about Americans than about Mexicans. It’s a message Jeb! doesn’t get... it’s not all about pity parties... some of the job is protecting American citizens...

It does not have to be that way. They could remain here as second class citizens without the benefits and without voting privileges. There are lots of options. Problem is, everyone gets emotional and knee jerk about it.

Fester. You're not being realistic. You talk almost as if you have never lived in the US and don't know any liberals and have never read the New York Times.

Things don't work that way here. If they are here, they are going to get everything. You should know that.

In certain places there are no doubt challenges. But we bored tunnels through mountains, went to the moon and laid cable across the oceans. Challenges far greater than a mere wall no matter said wall’s complexity. It’s simply a $$$/Will issue.

Now if there is some area with a huge cliff or something that is a natural wall, then no, no need to build one atop it. Just incorp it to the design. Any wall will have to be patrolled/monitored regardless.

In all seriousness, and for all my belief in ‘Wall’, I openly accept that this ‘could’ all be done with tech and no wall at all.. But that runs smack dab into the big and perhaps biggest issue which I mentioned before.

The wall IMO is not so much in my mind to stop Illegals directly, although it would do that well. It is to stop liberals.

When St. Ronaldus err’d so badly, the ink was not yet dry on the Amnesty before liberals began gutting everything about it that protected America. Smart fencing can be turned off at the flick of a USCC court order. Hell some regional Fed has bastardized all manner of laws in that way.

As we saw twice now with National guard troops, they are sent as a feelgood measure and put in offices miles from the actual border, unarmed and given papers to push. Without a wall, they merely get told ‘stand down’. and they must obey.

Now if you COMBINE all the points you made...the fines/jail etc for employers, take away the bennies etc. WITH a physical wall, you get self deporting illegals with NO EASY WAY to get back in any significant number, massively curtailed drug/crime flow and most importantly, no easy way for liberals to dismantle it/the whole shebang without massively POing a LOT of voters.

It’s one thing for Barry to spend 6Bil in Iraq/Afghan/Syria every third day. No one sees it. That money, real though it is, has no substance to Americans. It’s a number the news reports like a million others.

It is quite another to have a wall instantly ending half out related issues before it is even finished and than having Barry’s next of commie kin convince someone that the thing they SEE they spent 6Bil on has gotta be removed at a 50 Bil cost.

Not gonna fly.

Now we have Isis in South America headed north eventually and in number thanks to the refugee crap. A wall works for Israel. It will work for us too. We just need to build it. And we can.

Realism does not have to accept the status quo, nor need it propose draconian measures.

Ok, Fester. I guess you’re not interested in a discussion.

Here is an interesting article on how well Dr. Carson has done with only a fraction of the money used by Trump or a number of other candidates.

Consider these two numbers about the soft spoken, retired neurosurgeon: Two and $297,000. The first number is his place in national polls about the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average. The second is the amount reportedly spent on TV ads as of early this month by his campaign.

I'm impressed with the quiet goodness of Ben Carson... we're blessed he's on our team.
