Officials in Tacoma, Washington, want to put a drop box in the city where individuals who want to turn in guns for destruction can do so anonymously.
According to The News Tribune, the plan is to create a box where people turn in guns for destruction without getting their names on a police report. Officials believe it will provide an outlet for those who now have guns they want to dispose of but cant because there is no way to do so without interaction with police.
The box will be designed as a secure receptacle where people can turn over firearms without talking to an officer or even being seen by police.
Tacoma gang reduction project coordinator Melissa Cordeiro supports the creation of the box, as she believes it will provide a way out for some minors in possession of firearms who currently want to get rid of the guns but want to avoid police contact in doing so. Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell supports the move as well, saying, The main intent and goal is just to get these weapons off the streets.

I’ve got one of those.
But I don’t destroy them.
;-)
How many “Tacoma Officials” is it going to take to “design” such a box and how much is it going to cost? I guess those “gun buyback” thingys weren’t working out, huh?
Another moronic liberal idea.
Let’s loose the ability to trace stolen guns. Brilliant thinking!/s
Wow! If anyone from Washington is traveling east, stop in Arkansas and drop your guns off anonymously at any home, barn, wood shop, etc. We will gladly take good care of them in their new loving home.
No kidding. Shoot someone and let the local officials destroy valuable evidence. Who elects these ****heads?
L
It is almost as though the criminals are writing these laws.
How thoughtful, Now when you pop a cap in somebody’s butt, the po-po’s will take the hot piece off your hands no questions asked.
Q: What is the number one way criminals obtain their firearms?
A: Nation Institute of Justice survey says: Stolen from law abiding citizens.
I guess lots of folks will be getting their stolen property returned to them, huh?
Now, if only there was a box for Tacoma elected officials.
What could possibly go wrong?
Oh..., so they do have one for elected officials.
= :^)
Sounds like a convenient location to get some guns.
I’d bet on the side that believes the officials are lying. The guns aren’t detroyed, and the box takes pictures of the person dropping them off.
Otherwise known as the evidence depository.
That's probably why they are doing it. They not only want to keep guns "off of the streets", they also want to keep killers out of jail. Not very bright.
Where in Washington State? And what did they think of you?
I am also positive your page used to say you lived in WA State. Positive.
Drug gang criminals use handguns to commit their crimes or protect themselves from other gang criminals. Very few use military-style assault weapons. Handguns are easier to hide and get rid of. It is a matter of practice to get rid of a gun after one year because of the legal liability of being caught with a gun that could be linked to crimes they or others committed. Those criminals will find it convenient to drop that “hot” gun in that drop box than selling it off to Uncle Mike.
That gun in the drop box will have been replaced by a gun purchased by individuals with a Firearm Owners Identification Card who buy guns then sell them to gang members. Also, many guns come from robberies and firearms trafficking operated by the illegal drug cartel.
The new venture by the Mexican drug cartel into growing opium in Mexico and heroin on America’s streets is a huge money maker for them. This will equal the money made from Crack Cocaine. It is big money for lots of people associated with the illegal drug industry—like politicians.
Everything about this action is a phony scam. It tells me that the ruling class in Tacoma is up to something else. Perhaps they are lining their pockets with payoffs by the illegal drug cartel and banking their money offshore with transactions set up by criminals. This drop box scam is a way to deflect attention away from the real way to stop the gun violence: knock out the illegal drug industry.
