A House Republican on Thursday proposed forcing the Supreme Court justices and their staff to enroll in ObamaCare.
Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas) said that his SCOTUScare Act would make all nine justices and their employees join the national healthcare laws exchanges.

As the Supreme Court continues to ignore the letter of the law, its important that these six individuals understand the full impact of their decisions on the American people, he said. Thats why I introduced the SCOTUScare Act to require the Supreme Court and all of its employees to sign up for ObamaCare, Babin said.
Babins potential legislation would only let the federal government provide healthcare to the Supreme Court and its staff via ObamaCare exchanges.
By eliminating their exemption from ObamaCare, they will see firsthand what the American people are forced to live with, he added.
His move follows the Supreme Courts ruling Thursday morning that upheld the subsidies under ObamaCare that are provided by the government to offset the cost of buying insurance.
The 6-3 decision, authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, said consumers purchasing health insurance from the federal exchange in roughly 34 states could continue to do so.
The ruling in King v. Burwell has spurred anger on the right, with conservatives questioning the logic of the decision.
They deserve an Olympic medal for the legal gymnastics, Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, told The Hill.
Roberts argued in his decision that eliminating subsidies would have pulled state healthcare markets into a death spiral. That chain of effects, he added, was not consistent with ObamaCares intent.
The argument that the phrase established by the State would be superfluous if Congress meant to extend tax credits to both State and Federal Exchanges is unpersuasive, he wrote.
Justice Antonin Scalia strongly criticized that interpretation in his dissent.
We should start by calling this law SCOTUScare, he wrote, lambasting Roberts for the ObamaCare decision in 2012 declaring the laws mandate that people buy insurance constitutional.
President Obama celebrated the Supreme Courts ruling in a statement from the Rose Garden.
After multiple challenges before the Supreme Court, the Affordable Care Act is here to stay, he said.
It will never pass, of course
ALL GOVERNMENT!!!
The nation is falling apart at the seams and the HOR is playing Trivial Pursuit.
Why not a bill to repeal it?
Oh no - they will NEVER do that.
..... Just symbolic, The Ruling Bourgeoisie would never subject themselves to the things of us common folk. We are to remain underfoot to serve as their entertainment.
great point
Sounds a bit too much like ‘theatre’ to me.
If these guys were all so gung-ho about ending Obamacare, why didn’t they rally around Ted Cruz two years ago, when there was a chance to genuinely de-fund it? Most of these guys disparaged him over that.
“It will never pass, of course”
Don’t be so sure. The R’s control both houses.
Do you think that the liar-in-chief would DARE to not sign it?
If he did NOT, it would be an admission:
1. That it is inferior.
2. That there are “classes” of people in this country.
It does make sense that all govt workers get obamacare
The GOPE leadership was HAPPY about the ruling today, HAPPY
The more I think about this, the more ingenious it is. It would be the legislative equivalent of leaving a burning bag of poop on the WH doorstep.
“The GOPE leadership was HAPPY about the ruling today, HAPPY”
You can bet that their investments went up. I wonder how many call options were taken on health care stocks recently.
I like this bill.
I would also like a bill that made child trafficking by any supreme court justice punishable by death, with no possibility of pardon by the president.
With zeke emanuel’s useful life plan most of the court would get no treatment!
"The Supreme Court and all of its employees, staff, and support apparatus must immediately enroll in the D.C. exchange. No subsidies will be provided, the entire premium must be paid out of pocket by the Supreme Court. No wage or salary increase is to be given to meet this requirement." like this: "The context of this bill means the Supreme Court DOES NOT HAVE TO ENROLL in any insurance whatsoever."
YES!
More sound and fury amounting to nothing.
ACA is easy to avoid with the medical sharing ministries. No penalty, no exchange, no BS. Health care as it was intended.
Why not a bill to repeal it?
They have tried it over 50 times. Obviously it won’t go through with the President so they keep trying.
They don't have an exemption from Obamacare other than that provided to anyone who has employer provided insurance.
