A U.S. Court of Appeals judge has ordered U.S. officials to intercept a mother and her 12-year-old daughter on a plane Friday being deported to Guatemala and immediately return them to the United States.
The 34-year-old mother, Ana, and her daughter were woken up at 3 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Friday and pulled from their rooms at a Pennsylvania family detention center, where they had been living for over a year, said her attorney, Bridget Cambria. By 10 a.m., the two were placed on a plane flying to Panama City, where they would catch a second flight to Guatemala City.
In a rare move that will likely draw more attention to the controversial practice of family detention, Chief Judge Theodore A. McKee of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ordered U.S. officials to stop Ana and her daughter when they arrive in Guatemala City and immediately return them to the United States.
If the government is unable to intercept Petitioners at the airport, they must locate Petitioners in Guatemala and return them to the United States as quickly as possible, McKee wrote in his June 19 order.

Soon they’ll be deporting natural-born US citizens to make room for illegals.

On what authority does a federal judge command a federal agency to reach into a foreign country, lay hands on a foreign national, and transport them to a different country?
without even looking, I’m sure this guy is a clinton or obama nominee

If the government is unable to intercept Petitioners at the airport, they must locate Petitioners in Guatemala and return them to the United States as quickly as possible, McKee wrote in his June 19 order. Does it not matter what the Petitioners want at that point? Does it not matter that a US court has no jurisdiction in Guatemala? Is this court ordering a kidnapping of citizens of a different country?
I understand that the court may act upon a request submitted by those Petitioners, but a court that can do it because it is asked to may also do it on its own accord. That would mean that US officials would be permitted to kidnap anyone, anywhere. Not sure if that would be well received abroad.

What an abusive mother. She made her child a criminal. Put the child’s life indanger. Guatemala should throw the mother in jail.
Btw, I’ve heard Guatemala is a beautiful country. HGTV shows Americans looking for houses there.

Good news, everyone!
An "immediate return ticket" will REALLY soak the taxpeasants.
It's not like it's the judge's money, or anyhting...

On what authority does a federal judge command a federal agency to reach into a foreign country, lay hands on a foreign national, and transport them to a different country? Wonder how long one of the Founding Fathers would have listened to this black-robed clown explain himself, and why it's OK to blow taxpayer money on this, before the Founder punched the judgeclown in the mouth?

They are already issuing religious fatwas on matters of faith without any legal jurisdiction. Why not assume international authority?

From the article:
Cambria had asked the court to block Anas deportation while her latest appeal was pending. In its opposition to that request, the U.S. attorneys office told the court that, as of June 9, immigration officials had no plans to remove Ana and her daughter. She was then removed 10 days later at 9:55 a.m. Friday morning.
It appears that there was an appeal before a court and the US Attorney's office said there were no plans to deport the family but went ahead and did so anyway.
Personally, I think the US Attorney should be held in contempt of court until the family is back in the US.

I get that. But the “undo” is even more egregious than the original offense.

The order is to get her back in the country for her court appearance. Personally, I think she should be sent back to Guatemala, but she does have a court case in a court, she should be present for it.

Does a court in America have authority to have an order carried out in another country? Wouldn’t they need to have authority by local courts in Guatemala?
