Enough muslims graduating from the Police Academy will take care of New York City.

“Ending rent-control might just force the riff-raff to leave New York City. That would be a good thing.”

But according to Hank Johnson, since Puerto Rico is an island, if the PR’s were to be “repatriated,” the island might capsize!

There’s always a way to look on the bright side of things.

I can see it regarding his comment.

More like fascism/crony capitalism, because I am sure friends of those in power and such can probably get them raised ifthey donate enough.

If rent control goes away, then suddenly there will be more apartments available in Manhatten. This new supply of housing will crash the value of the condos that the wealthy own.

This is why rent control will NEVER go away.

Cut it loose and tow it to Argentina.

Repeat after me...(and every other sane economist)...

Price controls ALWAYS lead to shortages.

The wrote definition of fascism is government control of privately owned means of production.

Corporatists actually like government controls, as long as the controls favor them....because ultimately that’s the easiest way to control their competition....they don’t really like to compete.

Corporatists are also what I like to refer to as Corporafascists....perfectly willing to let the government do their dirty work. Unfortunately, this also now includes much of the Republican party.

Sad but true....many Republicans truly are fascists.

"Government control of privately owned means of production" is one trait of many fascist governments. I do not consider it a wholy satisfactory definition. What about fascist parties that are out of power and cannot control production? Are they not still fascist?

I harken back to my previous post in which I explained that communists themselves have confused the term fascist. I believe this is intentional.

Fascism, Socialism, Communism....all different sides of the same coin.

None of it can exist without authoritarian centralized government.

The law he won’t support is “Bladder Control”.

That would but him out of a job.

From what I’ve read, France is nice place with Conservative people with the exception of Paris.

The government has no right to set rents, prices or wages. That’s what is done under communism. We’re moving rapidly into it.

I know of a person who “inherited” his apt from his grand parents, prime location in midtown. he pays less than 500 a month. There is an undercurrent of apt dwellers like this that pass these apts around and down thru their families.

Markets are bad.
Central planning is good.

Central planning is even better when it's funded by a governmental quasi-take over of privately owned and funded property. Mmmm... mmmm... NYC rent control.

I think the rule is that you must live there for six months before your relative dies in order to get the benefit of rent control.
