The presidential bid of Ben Carson, a tea party star who has catapulted into the top tier of Republican contenders, has been rocked by turmoil with the departures of four senior campaign officials and widespread disarray among his allied super PACs.

Carson’s associates described a political network in tumult in interviews Friday, saying the retired neurosurgeon’s campaign chairman, national finance chairman, deputy campaign manager and general counsel have all resigned since Carson formally launched his bid last month in Detroit. They have not been replaced, campaign officials said.

Tea Party star? Huh? Cruz would be the only Tea Party star I know of. The rest are pretty much all just GOPe shills.

It has been all down hill since the National Prayer Breakfast.

And it is all Ben’s fault.

He does not seem to understand the word “conservative.”

I don’t see anything presidential in him. he misspeaks, gets tripped up easily, and his stance on the 2nd amendment is a little shaky.

There are at 30 more most likely candidates to choose from.
So something for everyone.

31 Declared and Exploratory Republican Candidates

Ben Carson, with his support of a National Minimum Wage, and his anti-2nd Amendment positions, is NO Tea-Party conservative!

It was inevitable, btw. The more experienced politicians joined the fray, the greater the pressure on his candidacy.

Once the $$$ is gone, so is the internal support.
One down...
Next one Santorum or Linda.

Never fear...Ben has a great future with FOX.

He would be a wonderful replacement for Juan Williams.

This is not going to be a campaign for an untested candidate, President or VP. If Dr Carson wanted to run for President, he should've run for HOR or US Senate last election. Then we'd see how he did on the campaign trail and we'd see how he actually voted.

Donald Trump could probably handle that pressure, but he's tested on the national stage.

He can’t run his campaign, so imagine how he would run the country.

==

Don’t really have to imagine — just look at the jv team in Washington since 2009.

I still do not get the so-called Tea Party infatuation with Dr. Carson. He is not conservative, so what is the attraction? They seem to be the same ones, opposite side of the aisle, choosing an unknown, as happened in 2008.

Are that many Tea Party so politically blinded?

There is a potential opening for him to run for Mayor of Baltimore.

That could be a great start, politically, if he won — and the current mayor is in political trouble.

Yeah, but the affirmative-action wing of FR will call you a racist if you don’t support him.

and his stance on the 2nd amendment is a little shaky.

I think it is beyond a bit shaky, he would like to see guns banned.

I’d rather see him return to Detroit and run for mayor there.

Detroit may be a mess but its not in turmoil and Michigan is a GOP held state so he would have some backing from the state level.

I’m not sure that I would characterize Carson as either Tea Party star or GOPe (shill or otherwise). I think he’s simply trying to ride a populist wave - one that is rapidly running out of momentum.

Agreed. But he’s a fine person, a brilliant surgeon, and an unparalleled role-model for black youth. The world could use a lot more Dr. Ben Carsons. I hope he remains a major participant in the national debate. While others scream and shout, he makes his case quietly and confidently.
