Alberta Elects NDP Majority Government; Ends Tories’ 44-Year Reign
American Prowler ^ | 5.5.15 | Aaron Goldstein

My newest article yesterday weighed in on the Alberta election and posed the question, "Could Alberta Vote Socialist?"

The answer is yes. Tonight, the people of Canada's most conservative province have elected an NDP majority government and thus ended the Tories' 44-year reign in power. That reign was the longest in Canadian history.

The NDP have been elected or are leading in 54 of the 87 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The Wildrose Party remains the Official Opposition have been elected or are leading in 20 seats.

This is what happens when the ruling party is named “Progressive Conservative” and they act accordingly.

The PC Party was crushed tonight in Alberta, with the libertarian Tea Party Whiterose now the official opposition party.

Having the NDP win in Alberta is like having the Socialists winning in Texas.

Not being familiar with Canadian politics. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Electing the NDP is always bad.

You have to ask? Didn’t see the word ‘socialist’?

I’m utterly shocked to see the NDP win since they are farther left than the Liberals in Canada.

But the corruption of the CINO Progressive Conservative Party has been on display in recent years along with the MSM discrediting of the Whiterose Party as racist and extreme.

So you end up with the Left winning in Canada’s most conservative province, the equivalent of Texas in the US.

The “tories” had gone way left anyway, probably the reason they lost

That a third party has crushed the RINO-type party? How can it not be a good thing?

Too many want to embrace the entitlement of Socialism. I just hope Texas stays mostly conservative.

Ndp are communists. They want min wage at 15%. They want the to earners to pay more, companies pay more. They are against pipelines and fracing. This is death for Alberta.

The third “Tea Party” party of Alberta, the Wildrose Party, now has its chance as the official opposition to the NDP socialists.

The old CINO-RINO Progressive Conservatives were crushed tonight and utterly repudiated.

ITS SHOCKING TO SEE A SOCIALIST WIN IN ALBERTA, ITS LIKE BERNIE SANDERS JUST GOT ELECTED GOVERNOR OF TEXAS.

I doubt it. Millions of new voters.

Democrats nominated the most extreme person they could think of and she still got about 40% and won 47% of female voters. One or two more cycles and she could win.

Conservatives out vote the ndp 2 to 1, but vote was split between two parties, and ndp profited.

I was born in Alberta 44 yrs ago. I’ve long since been American, but I never in my wildest dreams imagined this happening. So sad!

An interesting note — I was born six days after Ted Cruz most likely in the same hospital in Calgary :).
