Donald Trump Raises Questions About Ted Cruz's Canadian Birth
NewsMax ^ | 03/23/2015

Donald Trump remains interested in birth certificates.

The reality television host, real estate magnate, and serial almost-presidential candidate who repeatedly demanded that President Barack Obama produce proof that he was born in Hawaii, turned his attention to Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday. In an interview with MyFoxNY, Trump said that Cruz's birthplace, Canada, could be a problem for the Texan's presidential bid.

“Well he’s got, you know, a hurdle that nobody else seems to have at this moment," said Trump. "It’s a hurdle and somebody could certainly look at it very seriously. He was born in Canada … if you know … and when we all studied our history lessons … you’re supposed to be born in this country, so I just don’t know how the courts would rule on it. But it’s an additional hurdle that he has that no one else seems to have."

Unlike Trump, most legal scholars and media outlets that have considered whether Cruz's birthplace represents a "hurdle" to his presidential aspirations have concluded that it does not.

It's not the first time that Trump has questioned whether being born in Canada precludes the senator from running for president. In a 2013 interview with ABC's Jonathan Karl, Trump responded to the question of whether Cruz was eligible to run by saying, "Perhaps not." (The exchange comes at the 2 minute mark in the video.)

“The fact that he was born in Canada is a non-entity.”

I think Cruz would make a fantastic president.

However, the USSC has never really addressed this, and that is where it will be heading. Some liberal court is going to rule him ineligible. Others will rule that he is... Do we really need that drama in the midst of a presidential election?

Seriously, Donald?

If there’s one ship that I thought had sailed as far back as 2008, it would be any questions about citizenship influencing ones qualifications to be president.

Cruz knows all about Natural Law. I think he is running to expose Obama as ineligible.

That would be "delicious". What a great way to undo the damage Obama has visited on this nation with the single stroke of a pen. I too expected Cruz not to run based on his eligibility -- that he would be a king-maker instead of a king. If he chooses to run for the office sincerely, I'll support him -- we need a revolution. But this ... well, this would be a work of art.

Donald is thinking about running. Cruz will be a competitor. If he wants to jump in the pool I’m all for it but I think he’s going to realize the BC think is a non starter. After 8 years of a Kenyan Muslim its pretty much over.

The tragedy is I really like Mark Levin. One of my favorite talk show hosts.....

I’m sure he and others were threatened in some way over this issue. It’s the only explaination that makes any sense.

What I can’t understand is why they go out of their way to mock this issue.

Since the Donald went nowhere on Obama’s birth certificate issue while loudly proclaiming he would, I see his hot air going nowhere here either.

Admit that he's not eligible and vote for him anyway.

Bingo, I'll go along with that!

Trump isn’t in this for the country, or he wouldn’t have donated more to democrats than republicans.

Trump donates to Democrats because he does a great deal of business in the Democratic Socialist states of the NE. If you want your deals to go through you have to kow tow to the unions and the Dems. That’s why he donates.

Mark my words, the egomaniacal Trump is going to be a big problem to our side during the primary season. His ego has been well-known for decades, and folks just brushed it off, considered him "interesting"....and have been consistently amused by him, his career, his marriages, his ups and downs.....and his entertainment/gambling ventures.

Now the future of our country and the well-being and protection of our material assets and our families are at stake....and suddenly the Donald is not so amusing anymore...especially when there's no doubt he's going to go after our conservative candidates and muddy the waters as much as he can.

He didn't wait too long to go right after Ted's jugular, did he !!!

I’m going to take a wild guess here that you work a regular job like most people do. Can I wildly speculate that you are not a billionaire business woman building spectacular buildings and developments all over the country and the world? OK so now we have established that.

From the WaPo: The real estate mogul and “Celebrity Apprentice” host has made more than $1.3 million in donations over the years to candidates nationwide, with 54 percent of the money going to Democrats, according to a Washington Post analysis of state and federal disclosure records.

Recipients include Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), former Pennsylvania governor Edward G. Rendell, and Rahm Emanuel, a former aide to President Obama who received $50,000 from Trump during his recent run to become Chicago’s mayor, records show. Many of the contributions have been concentrated in New York, Florida and other states where Trump has substantial real estate and casino interests.

So $1.3 Million in donations over the years. Not in one year or this year but over a long time span.

Now lets think about it. A guy worth $7 Billion gives $1.3 Million over the years. That about equates to you giving a campaign donation of $100. If as a business person you gave a Democrat’s campaign $100 I would not necessarily label you as a Democrat. Especially if you gave $72 to a Republican.

Its a non issue.

You left the 14th Amendment out of your Constitutional research. Big mistake.

Because the 14th shift the presumption of the federal Court system to the US Code.

And at 8 U.S. Code § 1401, it says, “Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen.”

Look it up.

Where does it say in the Constitution that it depends on how long the mother lives in America? Oh, that’s some law passed by Congress to ‘modify’ the original intent of the Constitution. If you need Congress to pass a law, a statute, or a regulation to be an American citizen, then you aren’t a Natural Born Citizen.

You funny guy.

See my post #76.

Thanks for playing.

Somehow I'm coming to believe that Trump, if present at the Crucifixion of Christ. would find some way to PROMOTE HIMSELF.

His OPINION is his self promotional tool.
