Going today or tomorrow, but from what I hear, like “Hurt Locker” it’s more of a character study than a “shoot-em-up” along the lines of BHD.
“and then filed out silently with no talking.”
It wasn’t completely silent where I was. I heard a lot of sniffling.
FWIW, the movie guy on Fox (McCarthy) was on Fox and Friends this morning and said it was a terrific movie and that Cooper did a great job. He said he’s seen it 3 times and is going to see it again. He said the 1st time he saw it, he did so on a small screen, so only gave it 4-1/2 stars (out of 5); but, after he saw it on the big screen, he gave it 5. He said he also saw it in Cinemax and it was great, especially the music.
I’ve not seen it yet, but there have been folks on FNC (IIRC, including McCarthy) that said that Cooper really got into the role - he gained weight, grew a beard and watched hours of Chris, spoke to his family, etc.). I also heard on FNC recently that Chris’ family was very pleased with the film - they thought it was a good portrayal of Chris as well as what Vets go through in war and returning home.
Saw it Friday afternoon here in NOLA.
Was definitely worth seeing. Cooper did a great job, but some of the “Muj” he was fighting against didn’t seem realistic. Especially the woman and her child standing in the middle of the street exchanging the grenade in full view of about a dozen Marines about 50 yds away who don’t seem to notice them.
That was the only issue I had with the movie.
.Ive got several relatives who are masters at it (the speaking)......what I heard in the clips sounded fake to me. This doesnt mean I condemn the real sniper or his realism.
I lived where he was born and now live in another part of Texas. He sounds like a lot of the guys around here. Especially the boys that like the rodeo, hunting and football. Texas is a little different than Georgia as far as accents.
What do you have against rednecks?
Rednecks just mean someone who is country and works outside for a living. A simple life but honest. These kind of good ole-boys is what we need more of. NOT the kind that are coming out of Harvard like b.h.o. and other brainwashed elite. Country folks and blue collar workers (and cowboys) are the meat and potatoes of this country and received a bad rap these last few decades.
Chris Kyle was not a redneck anyway nor portrayed as one in the movie. He was a TEXAN, a cowboy with the same qualities, in my opinion, as a true TEXAN.
I think the actor accurately shows Chris Kyle to be a strong, good, kind, and noble man. One that would certainly have my heart and admiration. Being country, or cowboy, or suburban blue collar ‘regular folks’ needs to be recognized for the good qualities they truly represent.
Haven’t seen it yet but I’ve already gleaned hours of high quality enjoyment reading the rants of the America is a warmongering racist horrible country crowd at select leftist web sites. ‘Tis truly a wonderful sight to see so many gaskets blow at the same time.
My daughter and her husband are seeing it today. All the reviews I had read online from people who have seen it are great.
The movie “Selma”, portraying a most important segment and contribution in the life of the great MLK, Jr. has fizzled, not because of MLK. Jr. but, because of Barack Hussein Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Eric Holder, George Soros. Al Sharpton, Bill De Blasio, the CBC, The NAACP and the Democrat Party, etc., all “Black Racists and America haters.
You can add into that mix many African-Americans that idolize Obamabot, thugs, criminals, druggies, would be cop killers, cop killers, looters, arsonists, property destroyers and the low life of society, like Michael Brown, with little decent class or positive purpose in life! And...the brutal slaughter and murder of two NYPD “innocent” police officers, one, a Hispanic, the other, an Asian, demostrates the “life in the gutter” these folks lead.
African-Americans are “ADRIFT-AT-SEA”, without a rudder or paddle to steer with. This accomplished, by none other then their own hands and negative, dangerous actions. IMHO.....a serious “LOOK-IN-THE-MIRROR” and culture change is immediately needed, along with the ouster of their, so-called, current leadership. If not, they go nowhere positive, for many years to come!!! They have become a politcally isolated group...overnight, to speak!!!
Folks....those are the real reasons that this wonderful, brillant, well acted film, of MLK, JR. has died on the vine of Evil Black Racism!!! The truth hurts, sometimes....but, the truth is still the truth!!!
"Don' be messin' wit muh kinfolk movie Yankee scum aaarrrggh!!!" lol
Yep it must be racist to not see the Selma movie. What a crazy politically correct world this has become.
How is saying “sounded like a bad redneck accent” in the trailer translate to hating rednecks? You people need to pull that stick out of your keesters and read some.
What was the line in the movie that Kyle (Cooper)said about rednecks???? I can’t remember it - lot’s of “sensory overload” still from seeing it yesterday.
When you say “african-American,” do you mean black?
“Why are all you people pissed because ...”
Because you are trying to influence people without ever having see the movie. Do you always take some little, insignificant smidgeon of evidence and blow it up to cover the universe? Give up, go away. The good folks are appreciating this film and you can’t stop them.
Would be great if Eastwood got another best director and it got best picture!
It IS an excellent movie. It shows the decency and good on our side and the downright evil on their side that libs like to forget or explain away. Very powerful. It also shows the price that is paid by our warriors in ways seen and unseen. And yes, everyone in the audience exits silently, reverently and with respect. I experienced this myself and heard the same from everyone that has seen it.
Chris Kyles hats are all on backorder.
Eastwood wasn’t nominated for Best Director. A Hollywood snub, possibly, but Best Picture is his accomplishment, as well.
