Sounds like the kid is The Bad Seed.
A very successful 1954 novel (and subsequent play and movie), The Bad Seed, explores the topic of murderous children.
From Wikipedia: “In the decade the novel was published, juvenile delinquency began to be far more common, or at least more extensively reported and documented. Compared to earlier history, the idea of child crimes was a new phenomenon. A controversy about nature and nurture arose as psychiatric explanations were proposed for juvenile delinquency, with the debate being whether inborn tendencies (”nature”) are more or less important than environmental factors (”nurture”) in explaining deviant behavior.

Not Amish...hard to tell from photo (might not be current) but doesn’t look like an outsized gentle giant type kid either.
Just imagine this kid when he reaches adolescence - weighs north of 200 lbs - and has a bad attitude.

At 8 years old, I had already pegged my nephew as evil and dangerous. I predicted then he would grow up and kill or be killed. He didn’t disapoint me. He was in and out of jail and committed murder at 19 years old.
He had great parents and a brother who grew up just fine. He was just plain mean and evil.

My mother is in a clean and beautiful nursing home in a dicey neighborhood (I didn’t realize that when we made the switch from the emergency room to rehab to nursing home in a bit of a panic - my mother seemed to be dying in the rehab center). If anyone hurts my 90 year old mother, if I had the connections, I’d have the mob kill them. To murder a elderly woman is a taboo that should never, ever be broken.
By calling on a curse as your support, you invest yourself in the curse. Good luck trying to get it to let go of you later.
