Top White House adviser Valerie Jarrett was given a cameo role in the latest episode of CBS's The Good Wife. The airing of the episode comes after a busy week for President Obama -- which included bombing the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, a series of meetings at the United Nations, and various international crises.
Jarrett appears to play herself:

The scene features Jarrett on the phone with Julianna Margulies (who is the star of The Good Wife and who plays Alicia Florrick), being coached by Alan Cumming (who is playing a political strategist by the name of Eli Gold).

Political cameos. The Democratic strategist Donna Brazile has played herself on the show three times. Sunday marked the debut of the Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, playing herself in a plot line that saw her going along with an Eli Gold ploy to encourage Alicia to run for state’s attorney. These cameos would make sense if Michelle and Robert King, the show’s creators, were lobbying for some kind of federal production tax credit. And they probably succeed as fan service for a liberal audience of a certain age. But they don’t work as television drama. The political functionaries can’t act — they’re a distraction, and they flatten every scene they’re in. The shock of recognition isn’t worth it.
How does Val have time for all that between her schedule and her muzzie boyfriend, Ahmad Rashad?
How Obama finds all these muzzies to surround himself with seems almost impossible.

Hollywood thinks they can pump up this administrations approvals with this crap. What a wasteland.

Maybe, but right now all efforts by this administration - even this stupid cameo by the reptilian Valerie Jarret, are directed at staving off disaster this November. IMO

It depends on how you look at it. Both The Good Wife and The Secretary of State show received over 10 million viewers which is very rare. Now on the 18-49 rating they didn’t do that great. They are probably going to be renewed for next year. The Good Wife for a short 13 episode 7th Season and The Secretary of State for a second season.
