Barack and Michelle Obama commemorated 9/11 Thursday by working with a group called KaBOOM!.

Michelle instagrammed a photo the first couple working with the KaBOOM! volunteers to assemble backpacks with the caption: “President Obama and the First Lady joined millions across the country to commemorate the September 11 attacks with acts of service, assembling backpacks with @KaBOOM volunteers.”

They’ll call it an accident. It’s not. Purposely done out of hatred for America. Plain and simple.

It’s not “a group called KaBoom”. It is a cleaning product company. I guess it would be OK if it was 409.

When the space shuttle went down in 1986, I was a dj at a radio station in Portland, ME. After the special report the next song was “Spinning Wheel” by BST. “What goes up, must come down...” It was totally by accident. It just happened to be next in the rotation. It was terrible. I caught a rash of grief like I’ll never want to experience again.

Even ignoring the inappropriateness of the name to the event, this is an organization that promotes play for children.

It’s the anniversary of an attack on US soil that killed 3,000 people by an adversary we are still at war with!

It would be like FDR spending December 7th 1944 celebrating the history of the waffle house in America, in memory of those who died at Pearl Harbor.

KaBOOM! works to bring balanced and active play into the daily lives of all children, particularly those growing up in poverty in America. We do this by creating great places to play, inspiring communities to promote and support play and driving the national discussion about the importance of play in fostering healthy and productive lives.
