Fifa drops 'gay chants' case of Mexico World Cup fans

Football's world governing body Fifa has cleared Mexico of improper conduct charges after claims their fans used homophobic chants at a World Cup match. The fans shouted the Spanish word "puto" ("male prostitute" in Mexican slang) every time Cameroon's goalkeeper took a goalkick at the game on 13 June. But Fifa now said the incident in question "was not considered insulting in the specific context". A leading anti-discrimination organisation criticised Fifa's move. Fare, which brings together activists also fighting inequality in football, said the ruling by Fifa's disciplinary committee was "disappointing". It added that the governing body needed to take some difficult decisions at times. Tough new rules to stop offences by fans were introduced by Fifa last year.

How does FIFA have the power to do anything except schedule their future games somewhere else?

Nobody, and I mean nobody, is allowed to ‘dis’ the Sodomites...not even the little brown people from Mexico.

They can order Mexico to play future Mexico home games in empty stadiums or fine the Mexican soccer federation.

At the extreme end they can ban a country from future Fifa competitions.

The only time I recall this being threatened was when large numbers of Neo Nazi “fans” were taking over stadiums in certain European countries.

A few years ago a Mexican friend of mine told me that “puto” is a slang word for Michael Jackson.

Also, there are A LOT of whites in Mexico. They are very wealthy and they are as racist as they come. And they hate America.

Can they order them to play at all? Mexico could simply drop out of FIFA and form a new organization, I bet a lot of central American countries would join it too.

I am white and both of my parents were born in Mexico.

I don’t hate America. I don’t hate people of a different color.

There is more hatred for America among whites in New England than whites in Mexico. About 8-10% of the population. Yes, whites are usually better educated and Amer-Indians are usually less well educated leading to income disparities.

White people in Mexico are no more racist then people any where else.

Obviously, FIFA does not have an army to invade Mexico and force them to play.

But dropping out and forming a competing entity would need to be a widespread anti-European movement. Brazil and Argentina, the only non-European teams to win the World Cup would have to join.

Argentina’s national legislature just recently legalized gay marriage. It was not imposed by unelected judges.

Why must it be anti-European? Why must Brazil and Argentina join it?

Argentina is a huge mess all the way through

Because Fifa is European based and controlled.

No European country will drop out of Fifa to join a competing organization. Unless you count Russia as European.

Any movement to create a competing organization would have to build on the resentment of European control.

Because a competing organization without former World Cup champions has no credibility. Imagine some colleges trying to create an alternative to the NCCA without the SEC,PAC 12, Big 10, ACC and Big 12. You have to have at least two of the power conferences.

Anyone else remember WWF in the 80’s how the crowd would always change “FAG-GOT” whenever Adrian Adonis would wrestle?

Competing organization?

No, just a different organization

As I was saying: It’s hard enough to get soccer fans not to kill, maim, or drop human waste products on each other. Getting them to behave like sensitive New Age guys is just right out.

I had a long conversation years ago with an upper class Peruvian. He frankly looked a lot like the little mugs you see in museums there but was telling me that he was not Spanish, no Peruvian, but Castelano. He’s Spanish/Castelano was impeccable and even I could understand 95% of it. He was/is my SILs former FIL. That family is as racist as they come.

How would you set up a different organization that does not compete ?

The purpose of a new organization is to free yourself from FIFA control.

If you ask nations to join a different organization to free itself from FIFA control then you are competing against FIFA.

If this new organization does not do that only issues opinions without any power to set up the rules then it is a paper tiger. Worthless.

lol.

I was kind of kidding, acting as if the new organization would have to play against FIFA or something.

That is the equivalent of saying you are not American or British but English.

So you found a racist family in Peru, what does that prove?

There no racist families in the US or Europe?

And it is Castellano or Castilian in English.
