Vanity - Mike Gallagher's Pro-Lindsey Graham Rant
6/11/14 | dagogo redux

Posted on 06/11/2014 12:51:38 PM PDT by dagogo redux

On other threads recently, the faux-conservative bone fides of Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved have been sharply questioned in light of recent events. I'm wondering whether Mike Gallagher needs to be added to that list.

I can pick up three "Conservative Talk Radio" stations on my way to and from work, but I seldom listen to one of them because it features lightweights. My wife borrowed my truck yesterday, and must have been playing with the dials, because it was tuned to that third station when I got in this morning.

Some guy - I couldn't place him at first, but recognized his voice - was going on an incredibly livid rant about "fellow conservatives" who did not support Lindsey Graham, and who were unhappy that he won the primary. On and on and on he went about how conservative Graham was, and what a great man he was and such, and how much we needed him specifically in that Senate seat.

The gist of his argument seemed to be that these elections are all about whether our team - the Republicans - can win seats or not, and not whether a candidate who wins is a conservative, as long as they are somehow conservative "enough," which of course he thinks the esteemed Mr. Graham is. I listened to the end to find out who the host was: it was Mike Gallagher.

I don't listen to Mike Gallagher much, but he seems to be yet another fake-conservative cheerleader for liberal voices in what should be the conservative party. What do you think about him and the others like him?

I think you’ll never be satisfied, and always stirring up trouble.

Definitely a bench warmer on the conservative team. He seems to have a personal friendship with Graham that clouds his judgement and blinds him to the reality.

And is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Mike Gallagher? Is he related to that guy that smashes watermelons?

Frauds for pay. All of them.

As for Rush, he admits he is an entertainer. No issue there. The rest? Situational ethicist/frauds. When the chips are down they all back the RINOs. Not always, but in the vast majority of cases.

Among the radio talk show hosts, who do you think are the *real* conservatives?

The gist of his argument seemed to be that these elections are all about whether our team - the Republicans - can win seats or not, and not whether a candidate who wins is a conservative, as long as they are somehow conservative "enough,"

Would you rather *lose* the election?

Very well-stated again, Norm. Yeah, I know who he is and that is why I NEVER listen to him. He's "persona non grata" in my estimation, and has been for a long time. (Why waste your time?)

I'd rather have representation that matches my principles and morality, neither of which I get with people like Lindsey Graham

I also want honest leadership and representation, both of which are lacking in GOP-E candidates like Lindsey Graham.

It surprise me how many people do not realize they exist as a pressure relief valve for the GOP and the left.

they tell us red meat stories until election season then ease us into ‘voting correctly’ time and again. One can set watches by it.

Remember coulter and laura last time? This time she backed Brat but she went from staunch anti Romney to calling for her listeners to elect him. Everyone thought Brat would lose. So was she for real or trying to regain cred lost to Romney and then Brat won by accident?

How does that work unless you are acting out a scripted part?

They are hold-overs from the talk radio boom of the 90s when you could hear shows from morning to midnight, and every station needed 2nd string hosts to fill the schedule around Limbaugh.

There used to be some great ones like G. Gordon, Mike Reagan, and Ken Hamblin (really miss that show).

Gallagher was like Dr. Laura or Medved. They would make sense for a while, then they just say something so damn stupid that you realize just how much time you wasted on their shows.

I’m surprised he’s actually still around.

Sounds like you’ve got bigger problems at home...

I used to listen to him maybe 10 years ago or so. He was based in Greenville, SC so I guess that’s how he got to know Linda.
