Comcast Named America's Worst Company in Annual Consumerist Poll
The Verge ^ | April 8, 2014 | Chris Welch

Comcast has been named the worst company in America. The largest US cable provider "won" Consumerist's annual poll on the very same day it tried to convince the FCC that a proposed Time Warner Cable acquisition is in everyone's best interest. It's the second time Comcast has been awarded the unwanted label by Consumerist voters. Video game publisher Electronic Arts earned the "worst company" designation in 2012 and 2013 but lost out early this year when it was knocked out of the running by Time Warner Cable. Comcast was pitted against Monsanto, the oft-criticized chemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation, in the final round of voting. The company almost managed to escape the embarrassing title; SeaWorld — still unable to shake the negative press that resulted from Gabriela Cowperthwaite's powerful Blackfish documentary — nearly defeated Comcast in semi-final voting.

That’s only because they don’t have Time Warner.

If that merger goes through millions are SCREWED.

There are two cable companies in America, Comcast and AT&T. That’s one more than a monopoly. But put those two in cahoots, you’ve got a monopoly. And they own the politicians. Switch to dish? The two major dish companies are owned by....guess who.

Well deserved.

I fired them six years ago for, among other reasons, being utterly unable to send me an accurate bill. And for making me run the gauntlet of snarly, grumbly union members and/or incomprehensible offshore call-center employees in a vain attempt to receive “customer service”.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was when their tech came to my house to pick up my digital converter and did not log it back in. I got a nasty letter from Comcrap accusing me of stealing it, along with a bill for nearly $700. It turned up on one of their trucks someplace in Maryland two months later.

I've had Comcast almost all my adult life and have had very few problems with them. The only problems I've had were signal losses which were quickly rectified with a call to their customer support.......

The only problem I DO have is their failure to carry the "TV Guide" signal which is required for my Pioneer Kuro plasma TV with Cable Card......

I did a little work for Comcast. I was on the phone with a customer and had to mute a television in the adjacent cubicle (unoccupied) that had some gangsta rap movie where every third word was the effenheimer. To be professional (in my view) I do not need that bleeding into doing business with a CUSTOMER. Because I muted the sound on that TV (nobody watching) I was fired and called a racist MF by the manager.

Just one example of where Comcast’s priorities really are.

interesting story.

I walked into a best (worst) buy only to be blasted by some kind of insane no-beat rap music. I simply turned around and walked out the exit. Some kind of manager was there by the exit talking and I did pass a parting comment that I was leaving because of the blasting music. (it made a casino seem like a library).
