I've been thrown off my health insurance -- THANKS, OBAMACARE! -- and have spent hours and hours over the past month trying to figure out my options now that the Democrats have made my old plan, which I liked, "illegal." (I prefer to think of my plan as "undocumented.")
Whom do I bill for the hours of work Obamacare forced me to perform? How about you, Mickey? You're the smartest living liberal (faint praise), and you assured us that Obamacare was going to be fantastic.
By now, Obama has issued "waivers" from Obamacare to about 99 percent of the country. (Perhaps you've heard, there's a big midterm election this year.) As one of the few Americans not granted a waiver, I'm here to tell you: You have no idea what's coming, America.
I thought I had figured out the best plan for me a month ago after having doctors and hospital administrators look at the packets of material I was sent by my old insurance company -- the same mailing that informed me my old plan was "illegal" under Obamacare.
But when I checked online recently, I discovered the premier plan -- the "platinum," low-deductible, astronomically expensive plan that might be accepted by an English-speaking doctor who didn't attend medical school in a Hawaiian shirt and board shorts -- does not include treatment at any decent hospitals.

Oh, Oh! Better watch out for SunkenCiv. ;^)
Sounds like she should pay her “Liberty Tax”
America acted stupidly in 2008 and 2012.
It will be interesting to see what happens as the reality of this sets in, and as people are spending thousands, tens of thousands per year more than now, and have NO medical care.
BO did not anticipate this. I wonder credibly if he truly, his spoiled self, has no earthly idea how money works, and he thought that people like Bush just ran around telling everyone what to do, eating and travelling, and things all worked out.
But single payer will not happen. this is it. It just unravels from here.
THe government medical systems, Germany, England and Canada, they are not healthy. Our own, the military medical system is often joked about, the VA was always considered inferior, and those do not operate very well. Not like private medical care, here. They are huge and inefficient and bad doctors can thrive for twenty years in those systems. The patients are healthy, in the active duty side, young, and their spouses and kids, ditto. The VA, lots of elderly and sick, but it is a limited population. And they, former military, combat vets, are the most, by far, patient people in the country. They show up, get told it’ll be a 5 or 7 hour wait, and they smile and sit down and wait.
And those tow are systems with doctors. The military pays for the education of these doctors. They can do so.
Now, with a $17 T debt, growing, and this fiasco costing billions just to run, that’s before any medical care takes place, there is no medical school tuition coming from anywhere, no doctors are going to want to be a part of this, and med students are changing their minds.
Ann is right about the Shorts clad doctors.
This is not going to work.
Any one of those politicians could use their brain and see what is happening, and fix it, at least campaign against it.
But no one, after six months of implementation, is getting care under this. THe delay is a sign to me that they are even putting off single payer. The medical community willing to go along with this, and I haven’t heard of anyone, will be as competent as anyone else who signs up to work for BO. they’ll be like biden, Pelosi, ryan, Reid, Cantor, Boner, and the secret service agents who got sent back home for drunkenness unless they were set up
If ACA fails, we get single payer. It's a lose/lose proposition. And most U.S. people don't have a clue how bad it is, and never will.
"So my only two health insurance options...are: (1) a plan that no doctors take; or (2) a plan that no hospitals take. ...
"Obamacare has made actual health insurance "illegal."
I don’t see how single payer will work if the doctors won’t. (Unless we cut to Doctor Zhivago, mid-movie.)
I and every other doc I know has an exit plan. It’s over unless someone repeals this law, and quickly.
Single payer will happen, perhaps, but it will be much more of a fiasco than this, and with very very little health care for anyone.
I dont know. I suspect that the waivers will continue until there is a Republican in the White House.
The waivers will be perfectly fine with the Dims until they have a Republican to blame. Then suddenly waivers that have never been legal in the ObamaCare Act will no longer be just fine. The Republican in the White House will have to enforce the law as written.
Of course the Liberal Press will fall in line with the Democrats that was then this is now strategy to blame the failure of the socialized healthcare plan written and passed with out a single Republican vote on the sitting Republican president.
And yes my friends the Republican will fall for this trick and crawl away whimpering. The Dims will then push for a single payer socialized healthcare plan and the freshly beaten whimpering dog Republicans will fall in line and help the Democraps hammer out a socialized healthcare law that will condemn us all to a British still healthcare that kills the old and the young and condemns the rest to slow and cold healthcare that only a European Socialist could tolerate.
Wild guess: The GOP has already secretly promised the DNC that any Pubs running will not bring up the failings of obamacare or the 17trillion dollar debt.
That would be an educated guess, based on empirical evidence.
If MA continues to be the bellwether, it looks like you’re right:

If single payer is the endpoint, what do we need a United States of America for?
Let it go the way of the USSR!
The closest he ever came to a real job was when he scooped ice-cream for Baskins Robbins, and got fired after several weeks for giving free stuff to his friends. The start of the pattern.
That would be a dynamite story even this late in the history of this sorry republic. If it could be substantiated.
Thanks Ann Coulter.
This is the most frightening description of what it really means to those who need the ACA. I didn’t know it was this bad. The stuff of nightmares.
