I've been thrown off my health insurance -- THANKS, OBAMACARE! -- and have spent hours and hours over the past month trying to figure out my options now that the Democrats have made my old plan, which I liked, "illegal." (I prefer to think of my plan as "undocumented.")
Whom do I bill for the hours of work Obamacare forced me to perform? How about you, Mickey? You're the smartest living liberal (faint praise), and you assured us that Obamacare was going to be fantastic.
By now, Obama has issued "waivers" from Obamacare to about 99 percent of the country. (Perhaps you've heard, there's a big midterm election this year.) As one of the few Americans not granted a waiver, I'm here to tell you: You have no idea what's coming, America.
I thought I had figured out the best plan for me a month ago after having doctors and hospital administrators look at the packets of material I was sent by my old insurance company -- the same mailing that informed me my old plan was "illegal" under Obamacare.
But when I checked online recently, I discovered the premier plan -- the "platinum," low-deductible, astronomically expensive plan that might be accepted by an English-speaking doctor who didn't attend medical school in a Hawaiian shirt and board shorts -- does not include treatment at any decent hospitals.

Oh, Oh! Better watch out for SunkenCiv. ;^)
Sounds like she should pay her “Liberty Tax”
America acted stupidly in 2008 and 2012.
It will be interesting to see what happens as the reality of this sets in, and as people are spending thousands, tens of thousands per year more than now, and have NO medical care.
BO did not anticipate this. I wonder credibly if he truly, his spoiled self, has no earthly idea how money works, and he thought that people like Bush just ran around telling everyone what to do, eating and travelling, and things all worked out.
But single payer will not happen. this is it. It just unravels from here.
THe government medical systems, Germany, England and Canada, they are not healthy. Our own, the military medical system is often joked about, the VA was always considered inferior, and those do not operate very well. Not like private medical care, here. They are huge and inefficient and bad doctors can thrive for twenty years in those systems. The patients are healthy, in the active duty side, young, and their spouses and kids, ditto. The VA, lots of elderly and sick, but it is a limited population. And they, former military, combat vets, are the most, by far, patient people in the country. They show up, get told it’ll be a 5 or 7 hour wait, and they smile and sit down and wait.
And those tow are systems with doctors. The military pays for the education of these doctors. They can do so.
Now, with a $17 T debt, growing, and this fiasco costing billions just to run, that’s before any medical care takes place, there is no medical school tuition coming from anywhere, no doctors are going to want to be a part of this, and med students are changing their minds.
Ann is right about the Shorts clad doctors.
This is not going to work.
Any one of those politicians could use their brain and see what is happening, and fix it, at least campaign against it.
But no one, after six months of implementation, is getting care under this. THe delay is a sign to me that they are even putting off single payer. The medical community willing to go along with this, and I haven’t heard of anyone, will be as competent as anyone else who signs up to work for BO. they’ll be like biden, Pelosi, ryan, Reid, Cantor, Boner, and the secret service agents who got sent back home for drunkenness unless they were set up
If ACA fails, we get single payer. It's a lose/lose proposition. And most U.S. people don't have a clue how bad it is, and never will.
"So my only two health insurance options...are: (1) a plan that no doctors take; or (2) a plan that no hospitals take. ...
"Obamacare has made actual health insurance "illegal."
I don’t see how single payer will work if the doctors won’t. (Unless we cut to Doctor Zhivago, mid-movie.)
I and every other doc I know has an exit plan. It’s over unless someone repeals this law, and quickly.
Single payer will happen, perhaps, but it will be much more of a fiasco than this, and with very very little health care for anyone.
I dont know. I suspect that the waivers will continue until there is a Republican in the White House.
The waivers will be perfectly fine with the Dims until they have a Republican to blame. Then suddenly waivers that have never been legal in the ObamaCare Act will no longer be just fine. The Republican in the White House will have to enforce the law as written.
Of course the Liberal Press will fall in line with the Democrats that was then this is now strategy to blame the failure of the socialized healthcare plan written and passed with out a single Republican vote on the sitting Republican president.
And yes my friends the Republican will fall for this trick and crawl away whimpering. The Dims will then push for a single payer socialized healthcare plan and the freshly beaten whimpering dog Republicans will fall in line and help the Democraps hammer out a socialized healthcare law that will condemn us all to a British still healthcare that kills the old and the young and condemns the rest to slow and cold healthcare that only a European Socialist could tolerate.
Wild guess: The GOP has already secretly promised the DNC that any Pubs running will not bring up the failings of obamacare or the 17trillion dollar debt.
That would be an educated guess, based on empirical evidence.
If MA continues to be the bellwether, it looks like you’re right:
If single payer is the endpoint, what do we need a United States of America for?
Let it go the way of the USSR!
The closest he ever came to a real job was when he scooped ice-cream for Baskins Robbins, and got fired after several weeks for giving free stuff to his friends. The start of the pattern.
That would be a dynamite story even this late in the history of this sorry republic. If it could be substantiated.
Thanks Ann Coulter.
This is the most frightening description of what it really means to those who need the ACA. I didn’t know it was this bad. The stuff of nightmares.
My next window sticker ...

I'm sorry but as bad a candidate as Romney was, there is absolutely not excuse for the US population to have re-elected Obama, none, we knew what we were getting! If someone didn't vote they may as well have voted for Obama. Coulter had nothing to do with it.
Let me explain: Going to a car dealership and haggling for a Deal starting from the MSRP is more transparent to the customer than obtaining healthcare in America. When you go to the hospital you provide them all your financial data, life history for health and work, plus any insurance and forms of payment, all before you receive treatment. Only after treatment are you informed of the cost. That cost is set by a hospital administrator or the doctor, who knows what you can afford and they still gerrymander your final co-payment if they can squeeze one from you. At least with the Car Dealer and Salesman, they work from your Credit Score, and you finance or pay for the vehicle before you receive it. The healthcare in the United States costs a different price for each and every customer or patient as one prefers to see those who are treated.
Where is Dental Care and Eye Care - are they not more important to far more people than contraception and abortion?
Why did the politicians shield Consumer Price Schedules or prevent laws from making Medical Costs Transparent, as say the menu at McDonalds or Burger King? While there are variables, build into every patient's bill is the overhead that the Administrators approve before sending out a bill, which in all likelihood is based on the information you already provided on insurance(s) coverage and employment/income sources.
If the Conservative Base is going to reverse ObamaCare, it must start with transparency in Pricing. A good place to start might be with what Medicare will pay for a certain procedure, or what Aetna/Coventry Health Care Insurance would pay, and find a level of profit not exceeding the 7-8% the Oil Companies are subjected to not exceeding as fair compensation for all patients. Broken arm with two hours treatment, $750 or a pair of glasses (available from Bejing for $58 with single lens multifocal prescription) for $120.
I know some the pricing ideas may trample the free market, however, those who determine not to participate in receiving insurance are already charging their customers higher rates - capitalism at work. But for those with insurance, the amounts billed should be standardized.
A final thought on the health care debacle. I believe that the socialists ideas on crony-capitalism exhibited in the Auto Industry bailouts is evident in the healthcare industry as well, given that all payments are tied to the insurance company's which in turn will ensure (insure) that an entire sector of the economy remains viable without defaults.
Q: How come Ann “I Love RINOs” Coulter can’t muster the same courage that Matt Drudge has?
A: Because RINOs love big government programs as much as the other wing of the Demoplican Party.
even the sages who parrot the term single payer don’t explain how many doctors are willing to become govt employees
Priceless. Good of Ann Coulter to keep the destruction wreaked by 0bamacareagaedon at the top of the news.
Interesting that at the same time the democRATS are said to be secretly pushing for new changes to ObamaCare amid midterm fears
Wrap this albatross around their necks this November.
In a sane and just world (yes, my fantasy), there would be national TV commercials featuring sports and Hollywood stars explaining 0bamacare to America with their script written by Ann Coulter.
You got to get out more. Take a walk around and take a good long look. If you believe that Michelle Bachmann would have received more than 47% of the vote in 2012, God bless you, it must be great living in the land of unicorns. She would have been lucky if she broke 40%. That is not a criticism of her personally, but a statement of reality. Next time you are out in public, look and see the hordes of slobs walking all around you, and then reassess your statement.
What you’re saying is that BO got fired from his one job in the private sector—for theft.
Was Romney a conservative? Hell no. But I would take him any day over the America-hating muzzie-loving milquetoast communist we have today.
If CNN is to be believed (Which I have a lot of trouble doing)
That struck me as a preemptive tidbit that the campaign got out there early, so it couldn’t come out later as a hit later in the race.
I'm sure he did, just not so soon.
One of the main goals of ObamaCare was, in fact, to have this happen.
I don’t claim to be a psychic or a genius but I DID tell everyone who would listen back in 2009 that if this mess was passed it would mean the end of health care in America and there would be no real health care for anyone except a few elite. I said that without knowing one actual word of the proposed legislation, what I did know is something of the history of government and what to expect from government. Everything I see and hear now seems to confirm that.
The brain drain exiting the profession has already started. Hubby and I are out as soon as we can afford. It may be too late already....
I hope people like seeing their non english speaking mid level providers.....
As Dylan said, “Anyone with any sense had already left town . . .”
Historians, one day, will tell their pitiful students, “They used to call them ‘Doctors’.”
Oh, he has "an idea" ......
The real difference-maker is a simple motive:
HE HATES US.
Get it yet? It's all malice, nothing else. Malice, and the will to power, to put the American People in a subordinate, begging position ........... with an audience that Obama is prancing and dancing and performing for. An audience of America-haters.
Then soak it in turpentine and light 'er up.
Necklacing -- the black sacrament.
It’s obvious to anyone who wants to look at it. And there’s no organization to the future of this “plan”.
Not any more than that of a schoolyard bully’s antics.
Well, my bet is this has poisoned the single payer well for the Dems. Single payer is only more government involvement and the already added involvement has pissed off a lot of people. I doubt many will see the solution as being more of the same. But I could be wrong...
