Article V is genius, but not complicated to understand, support and embrace for anyone who knows how well our founders understood humanity, tyranny and love of freedom.

Agree. The Founders didn't have a peaceful means to retrieve their liberty. We do.

They don't get enough credit for a fundamental aspect of their design. The constitution accepts man for what he is, an imperfect and fallen creature capable of both good and bad.

They knew it was fatal for a republic to rely solely on the virtue of both the electorate and politicians. That is the fundamental mistake of many conservatives today, "if only we send good men, we'll have good government."

It didn't work that way from 1776 to 1789, nor from 1913 onward.

Article V scares the cr@p out of the Left because they know what they have done, because their authority is near absolute, and an amendment convention can only deprive them of power.

We don’t need to ammend the constitution.

Actually we do; here's four things that need to be fixed at the Constitutional level:

1. Repeal of Amd 17, returning State representation to the federal government [via the Senate].
2. Limiting the commerce clause, ideally explicitly forbidding federal power over intrastate commerce.
3. Tax reform: disallowing varying rates from being applied to an income-tax, disallowing withholdings, limiting the maximum rate, and reaffirming the right of a jury-trial prior to property seizing.
4. Limiting the federal government's ability to incur debt, and its ability to impose unfunded mandates on the States.

(See below for what I would propose.)
There's probably a few more that would be good, but these four would go a long way towards reigning in the federal government.

We need to abide by it. There is a reason for the 10th Ammendment.

Tax Reform Amendment	Fiscal Responsibility Amendment
Section I No tax, federal or state, shall ever be withheld from the wages of a worker of any citizen of either. Section II No property shall be seized for failure to pay taxes until after conviction in a jury trial; the right of the jury to nullify (and thereby forgive) this debt shall never be questioned or denied. Section III The second amendment is hereby recognized as restricting the power of taxation, both federal and state, therefore no tax (or fine) shall be laid upon munitions or the sale thereof. Section I The power of Congress to regulate the value of the dollar is hereby repealed. Section II The value of the Dollar shall be one fifteen-hundredth avoirdupois ounce of gold of which impurities do not exceed one part per thousand. Section III To guard against Congress using its authority over weights and measures to bypass Section I, the ounce in Section II is approximately 28.3495 grams (SI). Section IV The Secretary of the Treasury shall annually report the gold physically in its possession; this report shall be publicly available. Section V The power of the Congress to assume debt is hereby restricted: the congress shall assume no debt that shall cause the total obligations of the United States to exceed one hundred ten percent of the amount last reported by the Secretary of the Treasury. Section VI Any government agent, officer, judge, justice, employee, representative, or congressman causing gold to be confiscated from a private citizen shall be tried for theft and upon conviction shall:    a. be removed from office (and fired, if an employee),    b. forfeit all pension and retirement benefits,    c. pay all legal costs, and    d. restore to the bereaved twice the amount in controversy. Section VII The federal government shall assume no obligation lacking funding, neither shall it lay such obligation on any of the several States, any subdivision thereof, or any place under the jurisdiction of the United States. All unfunded liabilities heretofore assumed by the United States are void. Section VIII The federal government shall make all payments to its employees or the several states in physical gold. Misappropriation, malfeasance and/or misfeasance of funds shall be considered confiscation.
Commerce Clause Amendment	Senate Reform Amendment
Section I The federal government shall directly subsidize no product or industry whatsoever, saving the promotion the progress of Science and useful Arts. Section II The federal government shall never prescribe nor proscribe what the Several States teach. Neither the federal government nor the several states shall ever deny the right of parents to teach and instruct their children as they see fit. Section III The congress may impose tariffs, excise taxes, and customs duties on anything imported or exported, provided that they are applied uniformly and in no manner restrict, subvert, or circumvent the second amendment. Section IV No law may impose prohibitions of any sort on the commerce between the several states due to the item itself.	Section I The seventeenth amendment is hereby repealed. Section II The several states may provide by law the means by which their senators may be removed or replaced.

There's a fetid crust of horrible Scotus decisions/amendments atop our constitution that must be excised. Wickard is certainly one of the worst.

A senate of the states will not seat judges hostile to the tenth amendment.

I would add an amendment that prohibits the agencies created by Congress from instituting rules with the weight of law. That power should exist exclusively with Congress.

Really, why do you say that?

• The Congress certainly needs restrained from incurring debt unhindered, anything less is assent to their selling us and our decedents into de facto slavery as the debt is guaranteed against [future] taxes, which we cannot refuse (besides that, the USSC could easily hold that, being incurred by our Representatives, such slavery is voluntary).
• How would altering the [income] tax to be a flat rate, which is capped, and asserting that the government cannot seize wealth until after a jury trial be a recipe for Chaos?
• How would denying the current [unlimited] holding of the commerce clause as implying intrastate commerce may be regulated inviting Chaos?

Let’s just take one of those. The Commerce Clause is why we have a nationwide free trade zone. It used to work until FDR manipulated the SCOTUS. Look up Lochner Era.

What we want is a vigorous Commerce Clause as it comes to restraint of trade by government via permitting, licensing and regulation. All those are restraint of trade issues at the state, county and local level.

The Court’s rulings on the Commerce Clause are a Progressive abuse of individual liberty. The Constitution worked and worked well until the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Amendments. You won’t get rid of the 16th or the 19th. 18th is already undone, just undo the 17th and let nature take her course. The last time FedGov respected the Constitution was the 18th. Now they do what they want.

Fixing the problem has more to do with government school education/propaganda and the media, than with the Constitution.
