Georgia Becomes First State in History to Pass the Convention of Sates Application
Convention of States ^ | MARCH 06, 2014 | Mark Meckler

I have fantastic news from The Peach State!

Earlier this afternoon, Georgia become the first state in American history to pass the Convention of States application to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.

The House voted to approve the Senate’s version of the resolution by a vote of 107-58.

“I am pleased that the Georgia legislature has given voice to the frustrations of millions of Georgians,” said State Sen. Cecil Staton (R-Macon), the resolution’s primary sponsor. “Enough is enough. It is time to impose fiscal and other restraints on our runaway federal government. We urge other states to join us.”

“We Georgians have become the hope of the Nation today,” said Jacqueline Peterson, the Georgia State Director for the Convention of States Project. “Many thanks to our State Legislators for standing for Liberty. May God bless us, every single one!”

Our deepest thanks go to our volunteers in Georgia. They took a stand for self-governance, and history will remember what happened in Georgia today. Because they decided to write a letter, make a call, attend a hearing, or meet with their state representative, they can tell their children and grandchildren they made a difference in the fight to preserve liberty.

We expect many more states to follow Georgia’s lead in the months ahead. These are historic times—I encourage you to remember this day and what it will mean for the future of our great country.

What’s a sate? If you eat dinner and you aren’t sated, you can sue? And they have to feed you a tort?

The trouble with Constitutional Conventions, is that conservatives aren’t the only ones attending.

Look at what we have in the way of push-back at the federal level, to Leftist goals. None.

What happens when we get a Constitutional Convention, and the Left decides to address their concerns too?

Will states push Conservatism, or will Tea Party concerns be addressed as the concerns of terrorists?

It’s like the proverbial box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.

Good luck with this folks. Don’t be surprised if you wind up with some of your rights seriously curtailed.

1 is a start, and you have to start somewhere.

Stay on your own states to get them in line.

Congratulations Georgia!

Our rights are being seriously curtailed now. Besides, 3/4 of the states’ legislatures have to ratify any amendments proposed by the Con Con.

Constitutional convention at this point is a HUGE, HUGE mistake, in my opinion.

It’ll never work. The American Federal Dyarchy—Bubba’s favorite Georgetown Professor Carroll Quigley showed how the House of Morgan ran both parties’ candidates in 2 pres. elections—is crucial to big money control.

A Swiss Federal Instsute of Technology study detailed how 40% of the world’s economic resources are controlled by a tiny, tight knit group. They control who gets elected, what laws are passed, which court rulings issued. If their dictates aren’t obeyed, they get rid of disobedient, high servants and get new, compliant ones.

We’d all better hit our knees daily if this thing gets real legs that it doesn’t blow up in our faces.

Good, then no problem, since this is NOT about a Constitutional Convention.

Constitutional Conventions

Here we go again, every time a COS thread comes up, debunking the common myths.

The ONLY Constitutional Convention the US EVER had was in 1789. The ONLY Constitutional Convention the US EVER WILL HAVE under THIS Constitution was THAT ONE, 200+ plus years ago.

What is being proposed is NOT a Constitutional Convention.

It is a Constitutional means to propose (not RATIFY) amendments called a Convention of States, or Amendments Convention.

The ratification of ANY amendments to come out of a "COS" is the normal regular process that has already occurred 27 times (at least to completion of an actual amendment).

And furthermore, any amendments MUST conform to the title of the COS "call". In the case of THIS COS, it is to "reign in the power of the federal govt".

Lastly, if some leftists happen to get into the COS as Commissioners (ie, delegates), my sincere wishes of best of luck to them getting their "Repeal the 2A" type amendments to conform to "reigning in the feral govt", and getting it passed 38 states during ratification.

To: Repeal The 17th

May “repeal the 17th” be one of the many amendments to come out of a COS! Clearly, beyond any shadow of any doubt whatsoever, the 17th grows the feral govt, and repeal of the 17th starts to cut it back down to size.

The last Constitutional Convention wasn’t actually called as a Constitutional Convention, it as called as a convention of states. It’s intent wasn’t to propose a replacement constitution, but to propose amendments to the existing constitution.

What it did, it did in secret and without authorization.

What the next one does will be up to it. It can do as it pleases. If it proposes a wholesale replacement of the Constitution, it will have just as much force as the proposed for our current Constitution - none at all, unless ratified by the states.
