“... Guess what state legislators long to become?
Federal legislators ...”

I know some personally, and that is just not so.

My GOP state rep is a businessman with 150 employees. He is all in for an amendment convention. This is his first political office.

My state senator is a long time rat machine, teachers’ union goon. He doesn’t reply to my emails and his staff is courteous but brusque. He obviously doesn’t want to hear of Article V.

The rats and the arbitrary, despotic rule they embrace have everything to lose in an Article V amendment convention.

Freedom can only win.

In my freight and passenger rail advocacy days, I worked with a lot of state legislators from Washington state. I met one who wanted to be governor of Washington someday, but none who ever wanted to go to DC. This includes both parties.

That's right. The next assembly of the states is this coming June in Indianapolis.

It would be some kind of awful if Freepers opposed this last chance to save the republic.

Well you are right a COS is not going to happen so we are all talking theoretically here anyway.

Myself and many others prefer to refrain from ammending the Constitution and rather use the 10th ammendment which is already afforded to the states to reign in the Federal govt.

Its a philosophical difference of opinion.

Well, maybe I stand corrected. I don't know any state legislators personally.

I see our Republican state senators campaign on pro-life issues and then vote against a heartbeat bill when the party leadership tells them to. I see them gerrymander districts when the party leadership tells them to. I see them (in Florida) remove the districts of outspoken conservatives like Allen West when the party leadership tells them to. Now maybe you are right and they are doing these things for reasons other than political ambition but I have lost faith in my fellow citizen to hold any of them accountable.

The 9th and 10th Amendments are dead letters within the Living Constitution. They died at Appamattox in 1865. There are barely any penumbras and emanations left over.

very detailed description but: congress will simply not recognize the event nor will they set a time and place for the convention or decide whether the states will ratify by the:
State Legislature Method, or the
State Ratifying Convention Method.

in case you haven’t noticed we do not have a legitimate congress.

Why do we not have a legitimate Congress? What makes it illegitimate?

If you have so little faith in the Constitution then why bother to ammend it?

This isn’t 1865 but its starting to feel like 1861. States are already stepping up albeit slowly and asserting their sovereignty on a variety of issues. This will only escalate.

As this national crisis we are experiencing spirals toward an almost inevitiable CWII there will come a tipping point and rather than have the general populace out in the streets Governors and state legislatures will assert the 10th ammemdment to push back agains’t the unconstitutional actions of the Federal govt. Many including GA have state guards to back them up.

We went past the ballot box in November 2012. A COS is not going to restore the constitutional republic. 10-20 states standing together may be able to.

How do we go about, as you say, “abide by it?”
IMHO any government-limiting amendment needs to contain the seeds of its own enforcement. Congressmen want reelection; a criterion for balancing the budget, for example, should state that incumbents are ineligible for reelection is the budget isn’t balanced. Obviously, the enforcement can’t be left up to Eric Holder!!!

Our Constitution became legitimate because it was ratified, not because of anything that happened at the convention.

The same will be true for any future convention. It’s the ratification that matters, not what the convention might do.

Here we go again...

EVERY & I mean EVERY (maybe not TX) governor (Deal included) can’t get their mouth around the gov’t teat fast enough... If you think a COS is an improbability, Name me FIVE governors who will assert their states 10th Amendment rights...

Deal was TODAY whining about not getting the cash for the Savannah port project...

Federal Judges are OVERTURNING state laws about same-sex “marriage”...

IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE CONSTITUTION, then you KNOW that the Framers included Article V for a reason.

Repeal of the 17th, Term limits for congress & decentralization of DC will begin a monumental course correction...

A state amendment convention cannot be a mistake. It just might be our freedom's salvation.

Thank God the Founders had the wisdom to include Article V. It is our last best hope to contain the bureaucratic beast. Pray for America that we all may see the light of the wisdom of an Article V convention. It is America's last best hope. Always remember, as America goes, so goes Western Civilization.

I get more frustrated at the hand wringing naysayers on FR than with the LIV of the general population. Article V has been hidden in plain sight over the last few decades and it is not by accident. Article V is genius, but not complicated to understand, support and embrace for anyone who knows how well our founders understood humanity, tyranny and love of freedom. It is really a simple thing.

any government-limiting amendment needs to contain the seeds of its own enforcement.

James Madison would agree. It is why he and the Framers were not all that supportive of a bill of rights, or "parchment barriers." To secure our rights, their design first divided power vertically between the states and the government they created, THEN divided it among three horizontal branches. The 17th must go!

In addition, Mark Levin's amendments would further federalize the government.

Well said. Patrick Henry sought to convince fellow VA delegates that the Framers had gone too far.

The response was that it didn’t matter if the constitution had fallen from the sky and into their laps.

<>It’s the ratification that matters, not what the convention might do.<> !!
