NRA Declares Victory over Facebook Response to Gun Control Groups

After almost a month of pressure by Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) and Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America (MDA) to get Facebook to "prohibit the private selling or trading of guns on its platforms," Facebook announced "new educational and enforcement measures for commercial activities" that essentially restate what a company spokesperson said a week ago when they announced Facebook is not an online retailer and does not sell anything--including guns.

Without reading the article further, how is this a “victory?” You didn’t “win” anything, you got a major social network to affirm that they’re not in the business of business. A “win,” at least in this endowment member’s mind, is that Facebook says people CAN sell firearms on Facebook.

Even my regional NRA reps are asking more questions of the board and leadership of the organization. Some priorities have been misplaced as of late.

I am still trying to understand why the NRA would endorse a proven RINO like John Wayne McCornyn for yet another term of stabbing TED CRUZ and other Senate Conservatives in the back.

It makes NO SENSE at all to me.

Then again, the NRA also endorsed HARRY REID on his last campaign.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!

The NRA is a grassroots SINGLE ISSUE advocacy group. They do not represent only conservatives, they represent all gunowners. They support all incumbents with a pro gun record, Democrat, Republican or RINO. They support incumbents over challengers when both have a pro gun record, because incumbents generally win. The reason the NRA has clout with legislatures is they know they have influence on swing voters who care about gun rights. If they started picking candidates based on who is most conservative they would be just another conservative organization with no influence on elections, and no clout.

And no, they did not endorse Harry Reid in his last election, so quit repeating that tired old lie.

Finally I would brag about not being a member anymore. That basically means you gave up. The NRA is a democratic grass roots organization. If you don't like the leadership, start attending your local NRA Members Council meetings, and push for candidates to the NRA board who agree with you.

Well said. I am sick of the idiots repeating the ignorance.
The NRA leadership has done some less than ideal things in my book. I will voice my displeasure via my ballot.

—thanks—I couldn't have said it better.

—unfortunately, there are many out there who don't realize that the NRA has to operate in the real world of Congress, Washington ,DC and an almost universally hostile media-—not some fantasy world where we sturdy yeomen hold off an invading U.N.army at the bank of the Mississippi-—
