Over the last 12 months some 3,000 Cubans, mostly doctors, have arrived in the United States after deserting one of the Venezuelan government´s social programs they staff. This accounts for a 60% increase as compared with 2012. In 2012 there were about 5,000 refugee Cuban doctors and nurses in the United States coming from all over the world. Through December 1, 2013 this figure had surged to 8,000, 98% of them came from Venezuela. These are estimates by Dr. Julio Cesar Alfonso, head of the South Florida group Solidarity Without Borders Inc. (SWB), which helps Cuban medical professionals who try

We’re going to need them.
Quick, put them to work in Obamacare clinics before they get away!
Maybe they could try to import some North Korean doctors now?
Obamacare will entice them to go back. Maybe Obama is doing something about runaway immigration.
They will be leaving the US because of Obamacare soon.
DeBlasio ... Ha Ha Ha oh, my belly hurts. Deblasio hhaaaa!
I would be more than happy to utilize one of them - after 12 years of medical school...
They may be a sensitive barometer of how bad it is relative to the outside world. When they go, it’s like the proverbial dead canary in the mines.
You can fit three times as many North Korean Doctors on a plane than any other nationality.
In flight meals, one bag of peanuts would be appreciated greatly.
Cuban doctors are actually pretty good. It’s not their fault there are few medical supplies, but they are educated well.
Yup, now we know where the replacements for all the American doctors opting out are coming from. ¿Cómo se dice camarada?
I suspect I’ve just been assigned to one of them.
Wonder where American doctors will be able to defect to when Obama Care is in full swing and our health system becomes a twin of Cuba’s and Venezuela’s?
Please don't take this as snarkiness, but on what basis do you assert that? I've no reason to believe that medical education in Cuba is any better than the care delivered to Cubans.
If you can understand your doctor .. you can't keep your doctor .. PERIOD !!
RE: “Cuban doctors are actually pretty good.”
Just ask Hugo Chavez.
Because over the years I have met tons of them. Many in my family included. Cuban medicine has long been far in advance of every other L A country and was pretty close to par with the United States from the 1920’s through 1950’s.
I wish we had more of this type of immigration.
Obama must be very disappointed.
lol...If u like your butcher...u can keep your butcher!...Period!
I think you underestimate the ability of these doctors. With modern medical equipment and other learning resources, I think most them will eventually qualify under US standards. If they show the same drive of earlier Cuban immigrants, they will also make good US citizens.

More Obama voters.
I said Obama would get Cuban Doctors for Obamacare
#3. “Quick, put them to work in Obamacare clinics before they get away!”
Hey, why do you think the fled Venezuela? They were “working” in Obamacare-lite clinics and could see what was coming down the road right at them.
One bitten, twice shy!
Cuban quacks from Venezuela... WHAT A CONCEPT...
Calling... Phil Robertson pick up the white phone in the lobby..
Damn, what luck, His Arrogance stepped in it again and comes out no worse than a cowboy walking through a coral filled with Bill Maher .... all those doctors trained in communist medicine, familiar with death panels, used to economic slavery, etc. ready for CommieCare!
It’s a lot easier to sneak out when you’re not stuck on an island, I suppose.
... cough.. Where did that information come from? There schools haven't got the latest technology or the latest medical equipment, and why should they, the vast majority of hospitals are so ill equip for any modern procedures.. My wife interviewed many as possible staff in her clinic, and that's what they admitted..
That is not saying that they have no skills, or aren't trainable, but the facts are as they are..
One of my wife’s interviewees, told her he was ashamed of the facilities he had to sever his patients.. Most of the patient became ill from staph and numerous other serious maladies, acquired the hospitals themselves..
did they also lack soap and sponge?
I think we should keep a eye on you my Friend, you sound interesting, indeed.. This garbage you are passing, is right out the the DUmmie playbook.. I have presented evidence, as has others that utterly disproves your BS, and with a quick search any kid could have found it.. See you around..
He said the hospital labs were nothing more than home kitchens, only filthier, lacking the most primitive sterilization.. She said he broke down in the interview..
The wife gave the guy a job as a lab assistant, so he could return to school and get the additional training he lacked, which he did..
“Most Cubans who have defected complain about low salaries, late payment, increased workload”
Wow, with Obamacare getting ready to kick in, talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
did they teach him how to use mop, bucket, sponge and pine-sol?
If that’s an ER, it was previously an autopsy room. Those are autopsy tables.
in a sane country
Thanks for the link. It is very informative, if somewhat disturbing.
I suppose that is what we have to look forward to with Obamacare.
As for the individual Cuban doctors and their level of training, I frankly don’t know. Their system of health care on that island is predictably bad.
Why would they leave the world’s greatest medical system? Hmmmm... What would Michael Moore say?
It saves time...
Hey, Cubans can be some pretty sharp operators. I don’t know any Cuban doctors but I have known a Cuban refugee from right after Castro took over. This guy was talented engineer and a fantastic cartoon-drawing artist.
It was certainly not my intention to insult Cubans' intelligence. I just harbor doubts that their Communist-provided education, given the shortages of technology and medicine, itself, is quite what it's cracked up to be.
