Politics Of Sport: While ads featuring violent movies and video games regularly appear on NFL broadcasts, pro football has banned an ad supporting the Second Amendment. The NFL is within its rights, since Item 5 in its prohibited list of Super Bowl ad categories includes "Firearms, ammunition or other weapons; however, stores that sell firearms and ammunitions (e.g., outdoor stores and camping stores) will be permitted, provided they sell other products and the ads do not mention firearms, ammunition or other weapons."
But the ad submitted twice by Daniel Defense does not sell firearms or one of the company's popular DDM4 rifles. Daniel Defense has a brick-and-mortar store, where it sells products other than firearms.
In fact, the ad does not sell anything. It's a visual paraphrase of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the right of individuals to keep and bear arms to protect their country, themselves, their property and their families.
The ad doesn't even mention firearms, but shows a father picking up the Sunday newspaper as a football game plays on the radio.
He goes inside the house, hugs his wife and looks in on his baby as his voiceover speaks of his responsibility to protect them and the house they live in.

Second Amendment Ping
NFL will be dead soon. I’ve even stopped watching some of the Packers games this year and did other things. Prior to this year, you’d have to pry me away from a game with a crowbar.
NFL management has a typical left-leaning corporatist orientation. That’s why I can’t take people seriously when they complain about “leftist bias” in the media, but then turn around and support organizations such as the NFL with their cash, thus helping sustain and grow the very same leftist bias they claim to disdain.
Sorry, folks. The NFL isn’t on your side if you are a conservative. That’s just how it goes.
Here is the horrible violent TV ad:

2011 Super Bowl XLV | Ads Summary
I banned the NFL a long time ago!
They’ve lost it when they came out with that penalty for taunting. Good grief! Next they’ll do flag football.
Yet the football faithful will continue to support it
Lots of free publicity for these guys.
Second Amendment Ping
I can only watch NFL games with the sound off. Usually I tape a game, watch it in “mute” and fast forward after every ply to avoid seeing the tribal antics on the field; taunting, celebrating routine plays and all that crap. SHEESH!
Hockey is my sport of choice. It is fast and there are no tribesmen on the ice, jumping, beating their chests and pointing fingers at the goalie.
I quit watching the NFL years ago and this nonsense only reaffirms that decision.
Keep the blue side up, Sky Dancer!

Second Amendment Ping
You know what, I am the same way. An ARDENT Packers fan and Steelers fan for decades, and as a reaction to all the thug behavior in the off-season by these ‘roided out freaks of nature, I have stopped watching virtually all pro sports except golf. And if Tiger Hardon is playing, I’ll turn that off too.
Yet another example of Libtard logic ...
Thanks for the tip BatGuano. I think I’s start drinking a little more carrot juice so I can see the damn puck and give it a try.
Don't blame you - without Rogers they resemble the Jets....
Boycott the commercials.
