Once all of the new ObamaCare mandates, regulations, and taxes are fully priced into the healthcare market we may all be lining up for government butter and cheese, but that’s not the story here. No, apparently the multi-million dollar ObamaCare marketing campaign signing up new Medicaid recipients by the millions will come with an unexpected bonus for fans of the entitlement state. Lots and lots of people finding out for the first time that in addition to free healthcare they are also eligible for a shiny new EBT card. Via Politico.
The Obama administration has ordered a study to determine whether the Affordable Care Act, by increasing the number of people eligible for Medicaid, will also increase the number of people enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program based on how states enroll people.
The outcome of the study could show an increase of 3 percent to 5 percent in food stamp recipients in some states from people who were already eligible for SNAP benefits but had not enrolled in the program — which could translate to millions or even billions more in federal spending, Greg Mills, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute who is conducting the study, told POLITICO.
“So in percentage terms, it’s not going to be very large, but we’re talking about a very large program,” said Mills, who is investigating the effects of the health care law on SNAP on behalf of the Department of Agriculture’s Food Nutrition Service, the agency that monitors food stamps.

Voter registration is also part of Obamacare enrollment - nothing is done to document that you are actually a citizen when you enroll, so that is also working as planned.

I spent the rest of the evening thinking to myself (I had bought him a couple drinks), "so, I'm not just paying you to drink with me . . . I'm PAYING you to drink with me." And yes, I wasn't thinking too clearly, but I remember thinking, "why the hell shouldn't I do it, too?"

I doubt it will go as well as they intended. For socailism to work you have to have other people’s money and I hate to break it to him but he’s bleeding most American’s bank accounts dry. He’s just bankrupting his country and then will probably sail off into the sunset on a mega yacht on the way to Hawaii. That would be a good time for the Apocalypse to hit with a tsunami heading right towards his ship...: )
My son is a cashier at Kroger and although the old legend about the woman in expensive clothes getting in her Escalade after using Food Stamps is pretty much just a legend, they do come in and sort their purchases into WIC items, EBT items and Cash items which almost always include cigarettes and beer. If they try to buy the Cash items on a card, 10% of the time it is rejected.
And they almost always have an attitude.
And don’t forget to fill out your voter registration so you can thank those who made this all possible and punish the meanies who would take it away from you.

Their cards were electronicaly replenished, wait until the time period just before Thanksgiving, but most certainly by the end of the month. IMHO...

Well, here’s another little nugget that “couldn’t possibly be predicted”. When people realize they can avoid paying the KommieKare penalty by under withholding their Federal tax, instead of having 77% of the people over withholding as is the current case, which gives the feds a perpetual free loan, people’ll figure out how easy it is to UNDER WITHHOLD, thereby giving the feds a perpetual tax collection deficit instead! Another “unexpected” consequence of KommieKare.
