A Connecticut couple is facing charges in a child abuse case after investigators discovered that one used an electric dog collar to punish their daughter, according to police.

Eduardo and Paula Montanez, a husband and wife who live in Danbury, were arrested on Tuesday, five days after a Danbury school employee contacted the state Department of Children and Families regarding suspected child abuse.

A joint investigation by DCF and Danbury police revealed that Eduardo Montanez had used a PetSafe barking collar on his 9-year-old stepdaughter. Police said the couple was upset about the girl's progress report, so Montanez put the bark collar around her neck and forced her to bark so the collar would shock her.

Paula Montanez, the girl's mother, was reportedly present when it happened and did nothing to stop the abuse, police said.

I would think if the collars were inhumane the liberals would be more upset about what’s being done to the dogs. “Forced her to bark”. Now that is much more concerning to me than the dog collar.

Now, I can see using an invisible fence collar on a kid to keep them in the yard, but a bark collar? jeez....

If they can’t find a cattle prod,I’ve got a good every day cattle dog that could terrorize the parents for a day or two.

In another life, in another galaxy, I taught in “inner-city” schools (that’s a dog whistle!).

I really could have used about 3-4 dozen of those collars.

And that was just for the staff and administration.

I could have used 6-8 dozen more for the kids.

“Where do these parents get their parenting skills from ? How does it come down to this ?”

Parents in question:

Eduardo and Paula Montanez

That might tell us something.

That’s true! If we only eliminate the scourge of Hispanic surnames, then children will never be abused again!

If it’s abuse to the child, then why isn’t it for the dog?

I found the shock collar very effective on my son when he started the habit of talking back when he was 15. He became more responsive to my requests to do his chores too.........

When I observe the instincts of the animal kingdom and find that the male often kills the offspring of other males. Are Human animals any different? Do we not see an awful lot of “step-fathers” abusing their step children? Not an indictment of all step fathers since my own children were raised by a step father. Maybe it happens most often where the human is closer to his animal side than his human side.

“An every day cattle prod for the parents may be needed.”

Better still, lets hook up old Eduardo’s genitals to a telephone magneto and “ring him up” like they used to do down at Parchment prison in Mississippi.

It does seem to happen more than seems likely, although I don’t know what the statistics are.
