Henninger: Obama's Credibility Is Melting
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Oct. 23, 2013 7:14 p.m. ET | Dan Henninger

The collapse of ObamaCare is the tip of the iceberg for the magical Obama presidency.

From the moment he emerged in the public eye with his 2004 speech at the Democratic Convention and through his astonishing defeat of the Clintons in 2008, Barack Obama's calling card has been credibility. He speaks, and enough of the world believes to keep his presidency afloat. Or used to.

All of a sudden, from Washington to Riyadh, Barack Obama's credibility is melting.

How low can ZERO GO?
Is Zero the bottom?
A student got a 0 on a test.
He complained to the teacher that he did not deserve a 0.
The teacher agreed and said sorry but 0 is as low as I can go! ! ! !

Sen. Rubio said he and other reform participants, such as Idaho's Rep. Raul Labrador, are afraid that if they cut an immigration deal with the White House—say, offering a path to citizenship in return for strong enforcement of any new law—Mr. Obama will desert them by reneging on the enforcement.

Isn't that exactly the strategy that "the Prophet Mohammed" counseled?

This is not rocket science. Are they just figuring this out now?

Heard this before.

He still has the Senate, a loyal media, the low information voter, and the university culture. They will die for him and with him.

In regards to the Senate, for now until late next year when it gets more conservative new senators, the old msm is getting beat outright by the new media, the university culture, wait until the university culture graduates, and as far the LIV’s, wait until reality hits them with Obamacare. This too shall pass.

I always told my daughter.......abuse only happens if you allow it. The Republicans deserve everything they get because they keep allowing it.

The next time King Abdullah looked up, Mr. Obama was hanging the Saudis out to dry yet again by phoning up Iran's President Hasan Rouhani, Assad's primary banker and armorer, to chase a deal on nuclear weapons. Within days, Saudi Arabia's intelligence chief, Prince Bandar, let it be known that the Saudis intend to distance themselves from the U.S.

Is Obama setting us up to stand with Iran? Jeeze, it doesn't get much weirder.

I’ll believe that when I see it

Believe it, Baby! In the African-American Community alone, Barry's approval numbers have plummeted ... "PLUMMETED," I say ... from 99.9% to a disastrous low of 99.75%.

That's it. He's outa here!

West "quotes" de Toquville: As de Tocqueville stated, “America is great because America is good, when America ceases to be good it will no longer be great.”

The problem is, de Toqueville never wrote that.

Thanks, but my post re West's website depiction of Obama's leadership abilities (the subject of Henninger's column) related to the video at West's site--not to his use of the oft-repeated Tocqueville remark. Everyone from Reagan to Clinton and many others have used that statement and wrongly attributed it to Tocqueville (not, "de Tocqueville")

See

West's use of the statement does not devalue the excellent point made by the comparison of intellectual, oratorical, and leadership capabilities of the three men whose remarks are contrasted in the video.

Many years ago, I learned the necessity of consulting original sources when utilizing oft-quoted statements from historical figures. There are some famous ones which were never said by the figures to whom they have been attributed--such as Abraham Lincoln and Edmund Burke.

Abraham Lincoln once said “many quotes found on the internet are false”.

My comment had nothing to do with your post.

not, "de Tocqueville"

The name says that his family was from the town of Toquville, therefore the use of the prefix is grammatically correct, in French.

West's use of the statement does not devalue the excellent point made by the comparison of intellectual, oratorical, and leadership capabilities of the three men whose remarks are contrasted in the video.

Of course not. My point in posting it was in the hope that it gets back to him because I am sure he would prefer to be historically correct. There are many other quotes about morality and liberty I'm sure he could use as a substitute.

Many years ago, I learned the necessity of consulting original sources when utilizing oft-quoted statements from historical figures.

Writing a book is what did that for me.

Why do I keep hearing people who hated Obama in 2008 finally give up and join him.

Nick, by now it ought to be painfully obvious that Obama has nothing to do with anything. He is the "walking-talking-race-card" that silences any opposition while the revolution establishes itself.

IMHO, since we are not running against Obama in '16, what could possibly be the point of endless bitching about him? IMNVHO, since there is NO Leader articulating a specific Program or Plan to undo the incredible harm done to the Republic, merely pointing out the problem is a bit negative and actually helps the Democrats.

We know how bad the guy is. So what? What do we have? We need to win in 2014. OK. What happens then? We bneed to win 2016. OK. What happens then?
