So, the President offered an off ramp, in which he said I will accept any length of extension...
So, Boehner has his offer, he goes in to see the president, you would expect that he would then have a six-week extension and discuss all of these issues. What seems to have happened is there are now demands from the president...

That is not paying one’s debts — it is only paying the interest on the debt, something quite different.
I agree. So ...what should we do now politically?
WE will default because Lew was already told not to prioritize the payments.
Chris Parker from Parker Wealth Management helped explain this in laymens terms this morning on WTAM 1100. He claims this is a real test in the control of the optics of what is going on in DC.
We take in 225 billion a month. We only need about 20 billion to service the debt. So that leaves 205 billion to fund the governments activities and programs.
With no increase in the debt ceiling then the government is forced to live within its means. Basically this becomes a forced austerity, forget sequestration, it is a forced austerity and Congress...more precisely the House of Representatives (Republicans) will have to decide what programs remain funded or how fully funded they need to be.
Military, Welfare, Obamacare, SS, EPA, NSA, DOJ etc.
According to Chris Parker, this will literally mean the government must prioritize payments. This could be devastating politically to the democrats and republicans depending on who controls the spin.
Republicans tend to be financial wonks and not very good at explaining to those affected this kind of stuff as where the democrats are sooooo very good at the whine.
But, long-term this cant go on and we need tighten the belt. 0bamacare with its subsidies is not self-sustaining. Think of 0bamacare as the knife in the very heart ...
I wouldn’t give Chamberlain that credit, because in the negotiations he was weak and ineffectual, but on his return home bragged of how effective he had been in containing Hitler.
Nobody believed him then, and we should question apologists for him now.
Keep saying it, and let the chips fall where they may.
I like the idea because is gives the public 6 more weeks to see what a turd Obamacare is and increase our chances of flushing this sewer bass.
IF anyone stops & thinks for a few minutes, they will realize that Obama has been a ‘bait & switch’ entity from the moment he was born.
He just refined it when he got older.
I still have a list of items he campaigned on for the 2008 election, and all of those ‘positions’ have been breached.
Calling it bait & switch is too kind.
he is a born LIAR.
another, which happens 100% of the time, is to make an agreement. The Republicans fulfill their part of the agreement whereas the Democrats renege.
The classic example is Bush #41 who finally made an agreement to raise taxes after the Democrats agreed to reduce spending by a certain multiplier amount (I don't recall he figure). Bush lived up to his part - as usual, the Democrats refused. That was the read my lips, "no new taxes" Bush. It cost him the election.
You cannot trust a Democrat, not matter how good a drinking buddy he/she is.
its going to get rough..
boehner is now backed into a corner and he can do nothing.. he simply can’t completely cave, he will have to call zero’s bluff... he can offer nothing more, and he knows it..
fool...
sigh.... he was played by such a weak president..amazing.
I do see zero raising it all by himself.. after all he will have the full MSM approval on that...
Obama is counting on his supporters to say:
Boehner wanted the president to talk to him , so he did.
Now, lets get on with the surrender.
Obama negotiates from the position of “ what’s mine is mine, and what’s yours should be mine” . So hurry up and give it to me.
He also holds the meetings, says “no”, then calls Harry Reid and asks “Was that okay? Do I need to call Bohner and tell him I’ve changed my mind?”
And Reid says “No, son. You did good. Now go out to the putt-putt course.
Kraut lives in a dream world where Boehnor and McConnell have integrity and a spine to go with it.
Boehner & McConnell want most of all to punt these issues until after the midterms. They want to avoid conflict with Obama at all costs and by keeping quiet hope that people don’t notice their perfidy. They are careerists who simply want to enjoy the beltway good life and rake in the lobbyist cash.
Gomert on Becks show now, saying that Boehner is now in a meeting with Obama, and is giving up on 98-99% of Obamacare, so they [RINOs] can say that they got something from Obama.
That 1% we get is probably the medical device tax repeal that will be a gift to blue state Dems. If true, we have been had.
By all accounts, that trucker movement was a total bust.
I think the Speaker should summon the President to the Capitol for the next round of talks
“They are careerists who simply want to enjoy the beltway good life and rake in the lobbyist cash.”
Yes they are.
I have made the point elsewhere on the site that the strategy the Democrats have used and gotten away with over the last seven years of failing to approve or put forward a budget for the budget process has put them in the postition where some sort of CR is required each period regardless.
Our stop-gap has been attachments to the CRs and not an earlier insistance upon following the modern era Congressional Budget process. Once they got past two years of this game, we should have shut down the whole house as soon as we were able and enforced the Budget process.
Instead we find ourselves in a game of brinkmanship to attach one or two little bandaids to a CR — we have failed to fight when we should have and are now just flailing about as we watch the country go down the drain. Do we really think that daring Obama to captain the wreck of the federal ship is something he is not wishing for an excuse to execute? That is the whole purpose of their scheme. This is their Briar Patch moment — they want us to hold the line.
Cloward-Piven is not that difficult a read.
