Thirty-four people were killed and more than 100 wounded in clashes during protests in Egypt on Sunday, state news agency MENA quoted the health ministry as saying.

Fighting began after supporters and opponents of deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood took to the streets to commemorate the "Egyptian victory" in the Yom Kippur War, that broke out on October 6, 1973.

to commemorate the "Egyptian victory" in the Yom Kippur War, that broke out on October 6, 1973.

These people are truly delusional....They lost almost all of their air force and had their troops surrounded in the desert.

Celebration or clashes? These life forms turn to violence when they’re angry (99% of the time) and when they’re happy. After their ‘holy month’ they turn to violence. After Friday indoctrination, they turn to violence. After reading their book they turn to violence.
The only conclusion possible is that they are just violent people who can never be civilized.

In the Arab mind, outnumbering your enemy 2-3:1 and sustaining losses 4-10 times as much as your enemy, is a victory.

I guess any war where your enemy allows you to walk away from is a victory.

These MMs* will celebrate anything, even if it's imaginary...
Granted, Israel was caught flat footed and Egypt enjoyed much initial success, but if the "Big Satan" had not ordered the "Little Satan" not to continue into Cairo, it would have been a historic rout for the numerically superior MMs.

I do hope that Israel learned a couple of permanent lessons; Hundreds of two-man anti-tank teams can wreak havoc on all sorts of armor. That can work both ways.
And listen to your intelligence, dammit!

Among other things, the Israelis made major use of drones by any disciplined army, for the first time ever, in that war.

Not coincidentally...

Tommorow, October 7, is the 442nd anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, the last naval engagement of any kind ever won by the MMs, and retired them from any significant importance on the world stage for 300 years (THERE WAS NO FOLLOW-UP TO ERADICATE THE VERMIN PERMANENTLY.)
LET'S MAKE A GREAT CELEBRATION OF IT!

Civilized man rules!

* MUSLIM MORONS

Utter foolishness that Egypt lost that war. We over ran Israel after being attacked without warning or cause and completely and totally destroyed their military. We then withdrew in peace.

Thanks Nachum.

Yeah, that was quite a victory -- the Egyptians regained the Sinai, and the Suez Canal (which had been closed for six years), dumped the USSR, made a peace treaty with Israel (which it has barely honored), and entered an unprecedented period of peace and (for Egypt and the non-OPEC muzzie world in general) prosperity. The fact is, that was Sadat's plan all along -- reestablish a line of control about ten miles east of the Canal, under a SAM umbrella, dig in, and make it too costly for Israel to retake it, forcing a negotiated settlement. Had the USSR known that Egypt had no plan to take the entire Sinai, it probably would still have kept the pot boiling. The Israeli strategy was to fight a slow retreat in the broad Sinai if need be, while dealing with the nearby Syrian threat. Egypt's and the USSR's Syrian "allies" might not have been mauled quite so badly if Egypt had not had that stop line, although it would still have been bad.

The USSR didn't know Sadat's plan (and neither did Assad). When pressed by Syria and the USSR about Egypt's failure to advance beyond that ten mile line, Sadat still had no deal -- the Soviets were still intransigent at the UN and Israel wasn't about to stop without one -- so the Egyptian army went off-plan and tried an ad hoc offensive. This resulted in a near-disaster, with the IDF cracking the Egyptian front, laying down a prefab pontoon bridge, and in hard fighting west of the Canal, started hunting and destroying the SAM sites.

Part of the Egyptian army east of the Canal was cut off and would have been targeted for annihilation. The Syrian army was fleeing, the IDF was in pursuit well over the border, the IAF was conducting raids deep inside Syria, and the USSR caved, having no more cards to play other than a threat of worldwide nuclear holocaust (how boring). Despite what a lot of people seem to believe and bitch about, the diplomatic denouement was Kissinger's masterpiece.
Wikipedia -- Egypt and Syria never disclosed official figures. The lowest casualty estimate is 8,000 (5,000 Egyptian and 3,000 Syrian) killed and 18,000 wounded. The highest estimate is 18,500 (15,000 Egyptian and 3,500 Syrian) killed. Most estimates lie somewhere in between the two, with the Insight Team of the London The Sunday Times combined Egyptian and Syrian losses of 16,000 killed, and yet another source citing a figure of some 15,000 dead and 35,000 wounded. U.S. estimates placed Egyptian casualties at 13,000. Iraq lost 278 killed and 898 wounded, while Jordan suffered 23 killed and 77 wounded. Some 8,372 Egyptians, 392 Syrians, 13 Iraqis and 6 Moroccans were taken prisoner. Arab tank losses amounted to 2,250 though Garwych cites a figure of 2,300. 400 of these fell into Israeli hands in good working order and were incorporated into Israeli service.
The Syrian losses shown are probably far too low -- the Syrian army lost 1000 tanks, and it seems mighty unlikely that none of them had a crew inside. There's another section of the wiki page about Syrian and Egyptian atrocities against Israeli POWs, it's a little too disturbing to quote here.
Israel Defense Forces: Prisoner-of-War and Captive Soldier Exchanges -- During the Yom Kippur War (October 1973) 242 IDF soldiers were captured by the Egyptians, 68 by the Syrians, and 4 by the Lebanese. The IDF captured 8,372 Egyptians, 392 Syrians, 13 Iraqis, and six Moroccan soldiers. The prisoner exchanges with Egypt were held between 15 November 1973 and the 22 November 1973, during which POWs held by both sides since the War of Attrition were returned. On 4 April 1975, Egypt returned to Israel the bodies of 39 Israeli soldiers killed in action during the Yom Kippur War. In exchange, Israel returned 92 terrorists and security prisoners who had been held in Israeli prisons.
