Allen West Looks Ahead to Senate Bid in 2016
Sunshine State News ^ | September 28, 2013 | Jeff Henderson

Allen West could attempt to return to Capitol Hill in 2016 if Marco Rubio runs for president. But West could find running for the U.S. Senate to be a difficult assignment.

West talked to the Tampa Bay Times this week and shot down rumors that he would primary Rubio in 2016. Some conservatives and tea parties have called for West to challenge Rubio after the senator’s support of immigration reform. West continues to show no interest in taking Rubio on. But, when asked what he would do if Rubio ran for the Republican presidential nomination and not for the Senate, West said he would be very interested in campaigning for an open Senate seat. Popular with the tea party movement, West has proven to be a strong fundraiser. Despite losing his congressional seat to Patrick Murphy last year, West has remained something of a political player, rallying conservatives in Florida and at the national level. West remains popular with large swaths of the Republican base and should be a player if he enters the Senate primary. West might be out of office but he’s not out of politics and he should be able to keep the attention of likely primary voters.

Very interesting. West seems to be building the groundwork for replacing Marco Rubio, if the aforementioned senator decides to enter the presidential battlefield.

Key statement from West

“If that became an open seat, of course I would run,” West told the Times. “I have a good statewide appeal and a lot of people would like me to get back on Capitol Hill.”

You’re damn right about that, Col.

I expect that Pam Bondi will be running. I like Allen West, but he was defeated for reelection in a district that voted for Mitt Romney.

I have not heard much about it lately, but did Rubio finally realize he was on the wrong side of that amnesty thing?

He was defeated through massive Al Franken levels of fraud. Even today, his replacement is the least popular congressman in the country.

The Democrats were desperate to remove West, their alcoholic candidate sucked, so they cheated, as rats are wont to do.

He has stopped pushing it, and it seems to have died in committee in the House. Some think Bohner might revive it to appease Obama on the debt ceiling in exchange for minimal cuts, but I doubt it.

Pam “Blondie” Bondi, the gay agenda loving, Zimmerman persecuting RINO. I hope she and Marco end up together out of office. I wouldn’t vote for either of them.

If his plan is contingent on that slimy turd Rubio having a shot at the Presidency, he needs a new plan.

No, I think it just hinges on Rubio running. You can’t really run for senator and president at the same time. McLame was in an off-year when he ran for the presidency, remember.
