[Rand] Paul Hosts Secret Anti-War Meeting
National Review ^ | 9/10/2013

Posted on 09/10/2013 6:04:52 AM PDT by markomalley

In a secret meeting on Tuesday morning, Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) hosted a bipartisan group of senators and House members in the Capitol’s basement. According to several participants, the lawmakers plotted ways to stop the use of U.S. military force in Syria.

Since the diplomatic situation is fluid, there was no final consensus on how best to combat the administration, but potential legislative maneuvers, press appearances, and letters were discussed. Several undecided members asked questions.

Aides say Paul planned the gathering over a week ago, and the list of attendees grew by the day. He is pleased, especially, by the number of Democrats who are eager to work with him to kill the war resolution. Representatives Alan Grayson (D., Fla.) and Tulsi Gabbard (D., Hawaii), among other liberals, spoke.

The meeting, which started at 8:00 a.m., lasted for an hour. It was a conversational setting, with members sitting and talking through the issue, rather than giving speeches. Coffee was provided, but most of the guests brought their own cups.

“Then, after the liberals served their usefulness, we can always kick them to the curb again.”

And we can rest assured the liberals view us in the same light. But here’s the strange thing: once you get to know people, you begin to recognize that they’re even right on other stuff. Every now and then.

“The national review neo cons wanted war, baby!”

And the dnc neo-libs want this war. They’re cut of the same cloth. Neo-conservative, neo-liberal, neo-fascist. What’s the difference?

Perhaps we are just Pro-Constitutional people who figure you make a speech like Franklin Roosevelt did on December 8, 1941 and Congress declares war after the United States is attacked.

And then you fight to total victory.

There will be no use of U.S. military force in Syria.

Obama's objective is to bring the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Syria. The CIA is already arming and training the "Syrian" rebels. But if it takes more than that, don't be surprised if Obama gins up another excuse for a "limited" strike. Remember, our strikes in Libya were going to be limited too, and wound up being some 80 days, until Ghadafi was ultimately deposed.

Y’know what, if the person who casts the deciding vote to end infanticide happens to be a communist wiccan who advocates group lesbianism, I’m not going to care one little bit.

Well, not to worry, that ain't gonna happen.

I believe RON Paul voted with Dems significantly more than he voted with Republicans.

I’m also against sending any of our soldiers to Syria, but why doesn’t Rand Paul hang out with Repulicans who are against the war?

Because there aren't many of them in the Senate?

Can’t say I know how many there are, but Ted Cruz is ESPECIALLY strong against taking action against Syria.

And you don’t think Rand and Ted “hang out”? Remember how brilliantly Ted supported Rand during Rand’s filibuster?

That’s nice, but why is Rand Paul hanging out with VERY liberal Dems now in a secret meeting rather than Cruz?

After all, Ted Cruz, way back in June said: “Don’t give weapons to people who hate us” (rebels in Syria)

“..While most of the Senate is debating immigration reform this afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz took time to deliver an address on the Senate floor criticizing President Obama for his decision to intervene in Syria.

Cruz warned that there were elements of al Qaeda supporting the rebels and highlighted reports of desecrations of churches, kidnappings, rapes, and beheadings.

“These forces are engaged with a deadly struggle with the Assad regime and President Obama has chosen this moment to signal that it is now suddenly in our vital security interests to intervene in Syria,” Cruz said. “It seems far more likely a recipe for disaster.”’

excerpt http://washingtonexaminer.com/ted-cruz-blasts-obama-dont-give-weapons-to-people-who-hate-us-in-syria/article/2532193

TED CRUZ has been on this a long time, so shouldn’t Rand Paul support Cruz’s leadership?

A vote is a vote. That is why Rand is hanging out with even the repugnant Grayson in this secret meeting that we are all discussing very publicly. I would do the same thing, if it meant securing a vote against a Syria strike that could quite possibly blow up into a world war. Doesn't mean I love the guy or have to marry him. A vote is a vote, and in a chamber of only 100 senators, every single vote is precious.

"I believe RON Paul voted with Dems significantly more than he voted with Republicans."

Not true, Ron Paul has an 88% lifetime conservative rating.
