I would agree. His assessment is historically laughable. Also, note that he doesn’t go into why the Serbs were supportive of a terrorist attack on the Austro-Hungarians.
Sounds like someone in full denial of reality
Didn’t he join Phil Donahue, Norman Mailer, , Radar, Alan Alda, Ellen Barkin, Cher and Red Buttons on one of the first Apology Tours?
Rock hard stoopit.
Yes I read that and I even commented over there. It was an awful story. I mean you can’t please this guy. Even Obama (beloved by Koppel I’m sure) both under reacted to Benghazi and over reacted, with the embassy closings.
It did read like the ramblings of a confused, old, man and I’m surprised the WSJ even published it.
Ted Koppel is a dinosaur relic of the big three traitor networks that took it upon themselves to become kingmakers and President breakers.
They didn’t do this subconsciously; it was deliberate and purposeful. Adding insult to injury, they continued, even to this day, to insist how unbiased they were/are. They actually believe their heinous work was a needed public service that brought good to this country.
They beat good men and women down and propped up worthless tyrants of ideology and have left us with a legacy of deceit, deviousness and distrust.
Ted Koppel is one of them. I hope he rots in his old age.
Love it. Ted Koppel and his kind live in a bubble. It is nice to see someone call him out for his stupidity.
Koppel always impressed me as a mental midget.
(/satire if needed)

Well Howdy is one of the dumbest idiots on TV.
Did the “overreaction” produce more terrorists who went around assassinating crown princes? Who was the “government” of Serbia, anyway? It was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and Russia got involved when Germany insisted on joining Austria in a punitive action against the Serbs, which then involved France, which then sucked in Turkey on the side of Germany and Austria, and England on the side of France. I don’t think Princip wanted a world war per se, so much as a united Greater Serbia. The war itself was as retarded as Ted Koppel’s article, but the fallout from that war is still going on today, while the words of that dingus will be forgotten tomorrow.
I always thought that Koppel was one of the dimmest bulb’s in journalism, and I knew I had never been wrong when he went to Vietnam to make his own “investigation” of the “Swift Boat” veterans’ charges against John Kerry and showed himself as a giant dupe to boot, when he simply accepted the “eye witness” reports arranged for him by the communist dictators in Vietnam; upon which the issue was for him “case closed”.
The government of Austria-Hungary may certainly have believed that to be the case. However, I don't believe any evidence of that has come out in the 100 years since.
