Posted on 07/20/2013 1:23:26 AM PDT by BarnacleCenturion
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he will use every resource he has at his disposal to stop President Barack Obama from bailing out newly-bankrupt Detroit because he believes the city can and must save itself and learn from its fiscal mistakes. "I basically say he [Obama] is bailing them out over my dead body because we dont have any money in Washington.
Theres some good things that come out of bankruptcy, Paul said in a phone interview from Iowa. One is you get to start over. Bankruptcy lets you be forgiven of your debt. And you do so by getting new management, better management, and by getting rid of unwieldy contracts, contracts that give you where public employees are getting paid twice what private employees are and things come back more to normal. Thats the way cities and businesses can recover.

If Detroilet gets a bailout, just watch all the other liberal hellholes line up to get theirs too. Bad, bad precedent.
Obama will bailout Detroit and the GOPe will not put up a real fight except for the cameras
That is exactly what is gonna happen
I admire the way Rand gets right in Obama's face most of the time on these issues - its the only way to deal with him...
Only this time around it would be "city/state bailouts."
A VERY BAD idea.
I don’t think there’s any political clout to gain, by bailing Detroit out. It’s a dedicated Democratic city....it’s better to use resources on cities on the edge between the Democrats and Republicans.
money is no object - these are the days of milk and honey for the fedgov. Just print up a few trillion bucks to INVEST in failed third world cities and watch Dem turnout surpass 110% in 2014/6
the yakkin is fine - what is needed is action from the comfy chair caucus!
He is illiterate. A sexual predator that masturbates in front of women in official meetings.
The school board had to pay $650,000.00 to the lady who witnessed that.
Yet, he kept his job... eventually, under pressure, he resigned - but then tried to withdraw his resignation saying it was all a big 'misunderstanding'.
Now he heads something called "Citizens with challenges". You see, he is not stupid, he just faces challenges - like not being able to read and write, not being able to keep his privates zipped in his pants...
and the tiara lady?
For Democrats that kind of behavior is a resume enhancer.
This essentially amounts to republicans being mugged by Obama.
OPM - milk and honey
Afraid the precedent has already been set. Problem is that money should be used to doze the dump, instead of a recovery try.
just to keep the poop floating a little longer
. Zero does not care about political clout. He is an ideologue first and a pol second. IMO he will without a doubt try to bail out Detroit simply because it increases the power of the Federal state.
Hmmm, so we’ve got the convicted liar, the spitter, and Calypso Louis along with Miss Crissy and the Woman on Piers 69 agitating for race riots in the wake of the St. Traydmark verdict. If they can’t get the job done, or if Obergruppen Fuehrer Holder decides there isn’t a way to justify the crucifiction of George Zimmerman, there is always a parallel or fall back position. Start bailing out africanhyphenamerican mini Zinmbabwes and really anger the few remaining taxpayers so the s#it hits the fan.
Vanilla Boy Rick Gran...er, uh, Snyder may try to get out Michigan taxpayer’s wallets to try to stanch the flow, but that probably won’t be enough to please his master Maobama. But Vanilla Boy’s NOT TEA Party sycophants can take comfort in knowing the fix was mostly in.
Actually that went the other way President Ford told NYC to take a hike. A special board was put together to oversee NYCs finances and they worked their way out of trouble. This happened in Wash DC with the Control Board. Both cities avoided bankruptcy. Predictably the screeches of racism were everywhere. This tells you how far gone Detroit really is
